Can a puppy gain one point at an open show -re- new rules i am reading on kennel club site?
For instance i have 2 pups so one i entered in puppy ...that came 1st
The other i had to entered in junior  who came 2nd to a junior dog
so both my pups challenged for best pup in breed
the one who was in junior won
so if i am reading these rules correctly and as there was enough dogs present i can claim 1 point for best pup in breed ??

The following is from the FAQ section on the KC site.

Q. The new Junior Warrant regulation states 'One point for the award of Best Puppy in Breed at an Open Show. Only to be claimed if no qualifying Junior Warrant points were gained by that dog by winning a breed class or classes at that show and only to be claimed if the dog awarded Best Opposite Sex Puppy has also gained one or more points having won a breed class or classes at that show.' However, at the show the judge did not give out an award for Best Opposite Sex Puppy. Can I still claim for Best Puppy in Breed?

A. Yes, you can still claim for Best Puppy in Breed providing that the beaten puppy won its breed class and there were three dogs in its class.

it only applies if the puppy winning it's class of more than three was the opposite sex to the one declared Best Puppy.

So really more like when you have split sex classes.  Say a bitch wins her puppy class and gets a JW point but the dog beating her for BPIB doesn't as there were only two in his class, or as you say entered in Junior and beaten by an older dog..

Furthermore to this can I just ask and I apologise if this has been answered before
a) can you claim for BPIB at a champ show without CC's on offer for the breed
b) how exactly do you fill your form out if claiming a point for BOB at an open show, do you put the BOB in the column where it says class or no of dogs present, I find this a little confusing.
Thanks

No CC shows you can't claim for BOB or BPIB (have been in both those situations with a puppy).

If a puppy is paced 3rd in a Special yearling breed class at an Open show (there was no puppy or junior classes) and is only beaten by dogs over a hear old, but also beats two other puppies in the same class, and was declared best Puppy by the judge, can this be claimed as a point?

Show Certificate of merit  points only apply to Best of Breed/AVNSC.

Junior Warrant points can only be won by winning a breed class with at least 3 exhibits turning up, or if they go BOB and there were at least three in the breed at open shows.
