Hello,
I'm very excited that my long waited for whippet puppy has arrived. I'm so happy with her and so pleased I finally have one! She's adorable! I'm just wondering if any whippet people have any harness reccomendations? She's too little for her whippet collar yet so I want a comfy harness for her. I have seen cosydogs ones and they look good but I thought id just see if anyone on here had any thoughts, its tricky to judge something like that online.
Thanks, Lynne

Hi Lynne - these are the harnesses I use and can highly reccommend them for fit and function! ;)

Thank you for your replies. I have a normal puppy collar she is wearing just in house but I was concerned to lead her on this as I was told to use the whippet one so.wasn't sure if wen she's learning to walk on the lead she can use a normal one? She's not going out yet but we r practicing at home!
Be careful when using a normal collar on a lead, it is possible for whippets to slip out of their collars by pulling backwards. I have the same problem with my little hound, it makes no difference how tight the collar is she can always slip it.

In 47 years of owning Whippets we have never had one slip its collar, if it is the correct tightness it will not happen!
We only use the puppy collars up until they can fit the 'adult' Whippet collars. As long as you can comfortably fit 2 fingers inside(once fastened), it will not go over the ears.
Great. It was due to the larynx prominence I was advised to use the whippet collar for so wanted to avoid any pressure on her neck until she could fit her whippet collar safely hence the query re harnesses. I'll stick with the adjustable collar she's on for now then and see how we go. Thanks!

I have just invested in a Perfect Fit harness from Dog Games Shop for Nando and I love it. I was put off by the price previously but I bought one with a front d-ring and it is great as it gives complete control and the fit is very snug. I would imagine it would be ideal for something like a whippet and when he outgrows it you can just change individual pieces so it still fits perfectly.
This lady makes lovely comfy harness, collars and leads. www.fleurdeleadz.co.uk All made to measure but at very reasonable prices.
Thank you everyone. I'm probably going for a perfect fit one.
Lynne

You won't regret it :)
