Interesting advert from someone who should know better judging by their website

Never heard of a 'tigertot' before, a new designer breed?
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 25.04.13 18:45 UTC
I remember sweets called that - they were similar to Jellytots.

Haven't got a clue re "tigertots" either in relation to dogs.

Some people clearly have no shame! A way to feed the other dogs and get some show entries paid for perhaps??  Local to me, I notice.

Had to look it up ... West highland x  Champion min  pin sire.  Website links to well know show kennel and CC approved judge.

I don't know how old this advert is, but I first heard of it a couple of months ago. Somehow it just doesn't ring true, I wonder if it's a scam, and whether the linked-to people are aware?

Hmm good point MsT!

This is the bit which seems very fishy:
"They are quite simply 3 of the best pups I have ever bred - in every way; type, conformation, temperament, coat & colour, muscle & bone etc.,"
How can they have 'type' when they are a cross breed with no breed standard? Or conformation, muscle and bone for that matter?

Please see www.rotellakennels.com for loads of info & pics
There are no pics on the website, just as there weren't when I first heard of the ad. No mention of anything. not even a Champion Min Pin to be seen.

Comprehensive Worming Program: not just for Roundworm but also Tapeworm, Hookworm & Whipworm.
Are Hookworms and Whipworms that common.....? Do we even get them in the UK?

I have just found this add (updated 10 hours ago) which includes photos and the name and telephone number of the breeder, which does tie in with the Rotella kennels.   It now states there is one left - which is the pick of the litter!  Also they have another website (pet hotel) where there is mention of Ch Min Pin.

But the ad is misleading if not untrue, as there are NO pics nor info of these puppies on the Rotella website, as inferred in the ad...

Either way, they have had trouble selling them as two months later this one left out of 3, and now old enough to go to training classes. While £375 is way too much for a cross breed, it's not top dollar like many other "unique hybrids" out there.

And the wording of the ad, as above, is.... peculiar.

I just googled the kennel and found mini wire dachshunds, what concerned me is they have kept every pup but one from 6 litters, both male and female, not the norm for a show breeder.

I didn't read about the other breeds but didn't see Min Pins mentioned or Tigertots[how do you get that name from a Westie and Min Pin?]
- By Tectona [gb] Date 26.04.13 08:30 UTC
I assumed Tigertots came from the 'tiger stripes' (brindle) colour. Probably a bit mean but they aren't much to look at (by designer dog standards), so I doubt they'd appeal to the designer cross fans. It is all a bit weird.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 26.04.13 10:27 UTC
Has anyone contacted the kennel direct, they may be unaware if it's a scam advert.

Also how would you get Brindle stripes from Westie and Min Pin (which are Red or Black and Tan)?

> Also how would you get Brindle stripes from Westie and Min Pin

From the Westie, they were derived from Cairns which are often brindle. The gene/s giving the "white" suppress the expression of brindle.

Ah, interesting.
