Topic Dog Boards / General / Sale of kennels including dogs!
- By Mandy D [gb] Date 23.04.13 06:00 UTC
There is an ad on Preloved at the moment for house and kennels and 25 dogs are to be included in the sale. This is a licenced breeder and they are also supposed to be KC Assured. Unbelievable!
- By Alysce [gb] Date 23.04.13 07:31 UTC
The KC has been notified apparently.
- By PDAE [gb] Date 23.04.13 16:16 UTC
Hi Mandy

I sent you a PM, could you PM me the link?
- By tooolz Date 23.04.13 16:32 UTC
Advert has been removed.
- By PDAE [gb] Date 24.04.13 06:54 UTC
I hear it was one of my breeds
- By gwen [gb] Date 24.04.13 07:26 UTC
I saw a link ot the ad on EC&V on Facebook, in the pic, from memory, were Poms and a pug.
- By tooolz Date 24.04.13 07:48 UTC
And lots of Chis.
- By Mandy D [gb] Date 24.04.13 15:34 UTC
It is now on Vivastreet
- By JAY15 [gb] Date 24.04.13 18:03 UTC
The ad was always on vivastreet. Here's what the vendor replied in answer to an enquiry yesterday:

"we have pomeranians that sell for Females £1,500 and males £1,200 Chihuahua`s Females around £8-900 and males £650-£750 we also have puggs and their puppies sell for females £1,200 and males £900 we also take in boarders and also a little on the grooming side also micro chipping and ultra sound scanning of expectant females.. Thats in a nut shell for you Like i say it can be quite lucrative but i have chronic kidney failure and need a kidney transplant and more rest than what i am getting."

Very nice! Hope she gets more care from the NHS than she gives her dogs.

I think we need to look at this in context...this person quite obviously has some serious health issues and has made the RESPONSIBLE decision to part with her kennel.  I can't help but laugh at these sorts of threads, it's almost damned if they do, damned if they don't.

I'm sure there would had been a fair few people jumping up and down say a year down the line when the story hit the headlines, if this person had kept the kennel during ill health and had been unable to adequately care for the dogs and they'd suffered.
- By tooolz Date 25.04.13 08:36 UTC
Depends how you feel about your dogs really.

Bit like selling all the flowers in your florist shop? ..but those of us who can't empathise with someone who is prepared to sell 25+ dogs to a total stranger can only see it in this context.

In cases of real hardship the KC have a hotline which offers help.
The difference with this person is she wants MONEY...her motivator from the start it would appear.

I believe she is already blacklisted and removed fro Ep**z...not easy to achieve I would have thought.
There are those of us who believe in Karma.
- By Cani1 [gb] Date 25.04.13 09:18 UTC
If this person was truly interested in the well being of her dogs then they would of contacted the breed rescues to help out . I believe they are being motivated by money and don't have the dogs best interest at heart . :(

I understand your point about being sensitive to a person with such serious health problems and I have every sympathy with Mrs Slater on that level, but it is crystal clear that that seeking help is not her aim. She intends to sell her property and has intentionally touted her dogs as the main attraction. She is looking to sell as a going concern with 'stock' comprising 25 dogs of various breeds and has written in detail about the "lucrative" nature of the business without knowing anything at all about the person she is writing to. I think the offer of 2 weeks' "free training" sums it all up--as though anyone can operate a breeding establishment with no prior knowledge and two weeks of her support under their belt.

This is a breeder who has been claiming status as an Assured Breeder, endorsement of some description by Royal Canin and has been blacklisted by Epupz. It sounds like her dogs need help at least as much as she does, and they are not likely to get it from just any property buyer.

I'm sorry but if you had serious health problems would you not go to the breeders that you know in your breed or that you even bought your dogs off/rescue group etc. for help?

Selling your dogs as a going concern for a lucrative business just seems very strange to me, especially as their website only shows one dog which wasn't purchased all that long ago and said that they hope to have dogs for all of the children so they could all walk them....

I hope that from the advert that the dogs get good forever homes and are not used as poor breeding machines.

That was my first thought.

This looks more like selling the kennels and dogs as a going concern for someone to come in and carry on a commercial dog breeding business.
- By tillyandangel [gb] Date 26.04.13 11:46 UTC
I can't even see how this is being sold as a business? It looks to me like an ex council house with an extension and thats where these dogs are "boarded" This is a house sale with dogs included surely not a business with livestock!

If that was the case, the question answered that was mentioned earlier in this thread would not have mentioned what prices their pups will sell for.
- By Goldmali Date 26.04.13 12:18 UTC
This is what the advert says:
This is an oportunity to walk strait into your own business and start earning money working with animals.
- By tillyandangel [gb] Date 26.04.13 12:20 UTC
What i am saying is, she is saying it is a boarding kennels/breeding premises. If you look at the pictures it is just a house with an extension. It is by no means what i would consider a business. I very much doubt she has permission by the council as a boarding premises. To me it is someone who needs to sell her house and dogs now she no longer wants them and is putting a new slant on it by saying it is more than what is it, a woman who breeds litters and perhaps has dogs over to stay. I would not consider this a professional set up.
- By Goldmali Date 26.04.13 12:26 UTC
This is a business that is already up and running and has been for over 8 years.it has numerous opportunities to further enhance and earn money as a grooming parlour and boarding kennels. There is .Included in the sale is an ultrasound scanning unit, micro chipping equipment, and a nine camera cctv system, We are also licenced and approved by the environmental health with the local council,
- By Brainless [gb] Date 26.04.13 12:27 UTC
There are plenty of licensed boarding, grooming and breeding businesses run from peoples homes.

I suppose anyone who knows under which LA this propeery falls can check if and for what a License is held.

That again i think is her making more of it than it is.

I would be VERY surprised if this is true, seriously take a good look at the photos its a tiny house with an extension with dogs roaming around and dog sh** on the floor.

Oh but if it was that difficult to get a breeding licence (and clearly this is tiny toys) then there would be no puppy farms, would there......
- By Goldmali Date 26.04.13 12:39 UTC
Found her. Look under Bassetlaw, there's her license.

Well what an utter joke.
- By chaumsong Date 26.04.13 12:51 UTC
Neighbours must love that place!

Poor dogs :(
- By Brainless [gb] Date 26.04.13 12:58 UTC
The dogs may be well cared for and facilities up to scratch, our issue surely is with the ethical aspect of treating the dogs as business assets, part of the fixtures and fittings of a business.

Perfectly legal, but unpalatable to those of us who view dogs as companion animals first and foremost.

Absolutely agree, I said poor dogs because as far as I'm concerned every dog deserves an owner that loves it and will give it the best possible life no matter it's material worth.
- By HuskyGal Date 26.04.13 16:07 UTC
Well said Chaumsong ~ I'm absolutely with you there.
