If this eye tester were out to make a living, surely he would be offering it/advising people to have it done? I like him and I also like Ian Mason down near Southampton. Have only met one eye tester who, from seeing him several times, can say he was NOT a nice man lol.

Hi. Are you all aware of The Pastoral Breeds Health Foundation and the amazing work they support?  There is a professor Kim Summers at the University of Edinburgh who is currently doing a lot of research into glaucoma in border collies. Apparently she is not far off finding the genetic markers for this horrible eye problem. This is following a lot of hard work chasing up DNA samples from different lines of collies. There is also a database for Gonioscopy results which anyone can submit results to: http://bc-glaucomadatabase.synthasite.com/

yes, my dogs do feature, there's also a database for TNS :-)

it will be great to have a DNA test for glaucoma, fingers crossed also for one for epilepsy, although this is proving more challenging than perhaps thought :-(

This fitting database has been started recently which is a step in the right direction. But there is still far too much secrecy regrading epilepsy for my liking:

I agree, there's also the Czech database which has a lot of British dogs...

Yes, agree with you Borderquest. There are too many Obedience dogs who should be on there and aren't. Too often breeders refuse to acknowledge that the dog has fitted and find excuses, then breed from the parent(s) again!
