I really really want a kitchenaid stand mixer but in no way can ever hope to own one at that price. I am reluctant to buy one used only because I would be worried it wouldn't work properly and that is why it was being sold...

I've seen other brands that look good with a decent price...but wouldn't know if they would measure up...

Do any of you ( or any one you know) use a stand mixer and what brand is it and do you like it ?

I love to cook and some of recipes I spy would definitely benefit from such a good machine.. I could save up to a couple hundred if pushed...

Cheers
J

I would look at a Kenwood to be honest.  I have a Kenwood blender which is pretty good, it was a gift so I can't knock it too much but I wanted the k mix really as it's main use is baking :(

My gran had a 40+ year old kenwood mixer that worked a treat everytime.  I think the turntable on the stand broke eventually but she could use the mixer as a hand held one.  Never ever let us down.  I have a hand mixer of theirs which is pretty decent too.  They do come up on ebay and also "hereforaday" used and refurbed, still not cheap but much less than full price.

I bought the Bosch mum 8 mixer this Christmas, having finally burned out my thirty year old ken wood.Ilove it! We've even been making our own bread and cakes are very light. I wanted a new ken wood but they cost more than the bosch, and seemed lightweight compared to my old model.i would recommend the Bosch,as it comes with lots of appliances..a blender, mincer, bread hook, cake mixer and beater.

Ha...I'm sure I would love mine too if I could afford one...:-)  kitchenaid would be my first choice if I had a chance to get one...

Got a Kenwood Chef Premier just over a month ago and loving it and I didn't used to bake or anything LOL!  They had quite a good discount on Ideal World at the time and I could pay in four installments, absolutely love it.

My Mum has had the same Kenwood for decades and added various extras to it including the mincer.
