Hi,
I am going to be picking my German Wirehaired Pointer puppy up this weekend and I am looking at insurance for him. I have been quoted £19.00 per month for this by the RSPCA. Is this expensive or about right ? He is costing us £500 initially to buy so this is also taken into consideration apparently when they quote and also that he will be a large dog. My cats only cost £4ish so I was suprised.
Can anyone advise ?
Sarah.

I pay almost £15 per month - with Pet Protect (they will cover a complaint for life unlike some others only pay out a certain amount - so check which policy you really want. Pet Plan also pay out for life too). It was initially only £11 - so I was really furious when Pet Protect jumped to £15 within a year - especially since I had had to claim on my Vizsla when he was only 5 months old on a leg problem which may, or may not, surface again in later life - so now I am stuck with Pet Protect as no other company will cover him for a leg problem now! Luckily, he has been fine since, but I certainly wasn't impressed at a £6 jump in one year!

That's what I'm afraid of Shirley- I've been with that ins company for a year in June and I'm afraid of the jump my premium might take- more so since I know I have one of the cheapest around.
My D.B.I states the following;
Vets Fees (Injury)...................£2,500
Vets Fees (Illness)..................£2,500
Transportation Costs...............£150
Advertising and Rewards..........£200
Boarding Cattery/Kennel Fees...£300
Theft or straying....................£450
Death from Injury...................£450
Death from Illness..................£450
3rd Party Liability...................£2,000,000
£50 excess on vets fees (Illness or Injury) and £250 excess for the 3rd party liability. Luckily I have never claimed- touch wood- yet.

I use More Th>n. No restrictions. No caps etc. £11.00 a month for my Great Dane - who cost £800 - and I got the first 2 months free!
(Oh and no yearly cap either for an illness)

Thanks for the info eveyone, I appreciate it. Think my quote was a little expensive ! Mind you, I think a proportion of the insurance fee gets given to the rspca charity...Can't be a bad thing I guess but when you're on a budget...Will keep my cats on it but not the little pup.

You might want to do a search on RSPCA- type it into the search on here!
