Purely asked out of interest, as I leave Mum with her pups right up until they go to their new homes. In fact one girl had a quick drink from Mum just before she left.

Someone else in my breed chooses to remove Mum completely when Pups are 5 weeks old and interacts with pups themselves until they leave.

my pups and mums have access to each other right up to them going, they learn such a lot by playing with their mother it would be awful to part them at 5 weeks, I have a girl who took her last drink as we left and have pups who've done the same.  If I'm keeping them they may have a 'break' from mum just to stop them continuing with this but with my last litter (2 years ago) mum enforced the weaning process.  To be honest if you're not letting mum be with the pups you may as well send them off to their new homes imo :-(

I'm another that let's mum do what she wants.  Sometimes, they will stop letting the pups feed after a few weeks but she will still lie in their company or sometimes, they let the pups feed right up till they are leaving.  Depends on the girl.
Only thing is, if they have been feeding, I always tell the new owners to inform the vet.  I'm a bit wary of vaccinatiing too early and with mums antibodies still high, I like the new owners to leave it a while longer.

The major problem these days with dogs is lack of canine manners/socialisation, with dogs not knowing how to interact with their own kind, so this would seem a very bad idea.

I would hope canine to human socialisation would be ongoing when pups are homed, but the opportunity to socialise with safe and socially well balanced adults.

My girl stopped wanting to feed all her pups as a group at 5 weeks I think as there were so many of them but would sneak into their bed with a few while the rest were playing in the garden so I let her do this but put a t shirt on her at 6 weeks if she was playing with the whole litter so that they wouldn't try to feed but just play. I wouldn't take mum away unless there was a medical reason to do so, she loved playing with them :-)

    Blimey, I would never do that.  I think that's awful  The bitch would help her pups socialisation and bite inhibition.

I agree that some bitches will allow a comfort suckle on the day that a pup leaves.  I have never stopped them.  I have always made it easy for a bitch to leave her pups if she wants a break from them.  But by 6 weeks they are all interacting and learning.  Such an important time.

My girls have access to the pups all the time...it's her choice when she stops feeding etc.

I wouldn't like to think I've taken her right away and she couldn't visit if she wanted to.

I leave mine with their mum until they leave. How else will they be taught manners? Mind you, my last litter was given free access to the rest of the house from 5 weeks on (back door open almost permanently) and were very quickly housetrained. The cleanest litter I ever had. :-) They learnt from the other adult dogs, as well as getting the socialisation with household items. The adults had somewhere to escape to if they want, but after the first day or two they were all playing with the pups.
