Hi took my bitch for a scan today at a sheep scanner it is 29 days since her first tie sheep scanner said No pups to be seen, however he only put the scanner on her for about five seconds and to be honest seemed more interested in getting back to his lambing and not really interested in the dog at all, I was just wondering if I took her too early or if an average sheep scan takes only a couple of seconds ( literally) or did I just get him on a bad day, my girl is showing signs personality changes nipples enlarged Vulva still swollen and when I had a feel of her tummy I felt what I thought was two sacks should I take her elsewhere maybe in a week or are sheep scanners usually spot on?

I would have thought having a good search about for sacs would have taken longer than a few seconds, that was easy money for them,I leave it till later if I decide to scan just to confirm pregnancy before starting daily worming and puppy food.

A phantom has all the signs you mentioned.

My scanner is very quick but if finds nothing initially will have a good look around to see if any are up high etc.  The sheep scanner in our area I believe is very good and will give numbers which are usually accurate.

I personally have never been able to feel any evidence of being in whelp by palpation.  I would take her to another reliable scanner so you know for sure.

Thanks may give her another week and take her back to a vet she had a Singleton last time but that is unusual for her breed.
