Topic Dog Boards / General / Husky urgent help needed

Hi,
I have seen the most beautiful Husky ad on Facebook for  rehoming. She has the dog, female 1 yr old and wants £80 for her. A rescue has contacted her to take the dog off her hands but she doesn't want to give it away for nothing. It breaks my heart to see the lovely face of this dog and to think she may be sold to a yob that wants to breed from her. My friend has emailed her to get the info, it appears she is good with other dogs and kids etc, but is caged a lot of the time.
I have my full quota of dogs at the moment but wondered if anyone would be interested, I even thought about paying the £80 and then sending her to a husky rescue myself, but she looks too beautiful to be kennelled for any length of time.
Maybe I am a softy for a pretty face and I know I cannot help every animal out there, but some just get to me .....

sadly there are a lot of byb breeding huskies and there are now a lot in rescue, particularly when people find out they're not the easiest of breeds.  Don't worry about husky rescue as they are generally 'fostered' rather than languishing in a large kennel situation.

huskies are of course challenging, shouldn't be let off a lead unless in a secure area, will chew for britain and dig/scale out of anything other than maximum security gardens :-)

I would be extremely cautious of 'a Husky rescue' if it is not the Breed clubs:
www.shcgbwelfare.org.uk/
www.scottishshc.org.uk/
Or
http://www.shwauk.org.uk/

Sadly in our breed we have had some instances of people setting themselves up as 'a rescue' and using this guise to just sell dogs on and profit from it :-(

The Breed clubs are unlikely to be able to help if the dog is not registered.
Not because they don't want to, but because rescue is soooo swamped with Huskies that have gone past the cute puppy stage the breed club simply cannot find the fosters and accommodation to have them!

I fear if this dog is sold for a mere £80 on a social networking site, her future is not going to improve.

Unfortunately again, advertising dogs for re homing is against the Terms do Service of Champdogs ~ so the best you can do is copy the above links and advise the seller if they have any love for the dog let her go to someone who knows the breed and can prove so or better let her go without charge to SHWAUK. ( I suspect the dog will not be breed registered)

Bless you silly sue ... Heartbreaking isn't it... I see sooooo many of these.

Many thanks for the replies. I think this dog has a face that will remain in my brain for the rest of my days, how can people treat dogs like a possession that can bought and sold with no thought to the feelings of the dog.
I usually stay well away from Facebook for just this reason, seeing people buying and selling dogs really hurts me, but this was brought to my notice by my friend at work. I will get her to email the lady with the email addresses you have given me and hopefully kindness will prevail, but somehow I doubt it.

I try and avoid rescue centres as I always cry for all the little souls I cannot offer a home to, and I feel just as helpless with this dog.
Sometimes I really hate the human race

Apologies, this was from the heart and not for any commercial reasons

Harsh as it sounds, the best you can do is just stop looking.  I've had to, every time I look at any freead site or the like I get upset (or end up with another dog, it's happened twice!) and it doesn't help.  There are enough dogs needing help already from people who aren't trying to cash in on them :-(

Same here.  And people wonder why I prefer my dogs to humans.
