How do I find a GOOD groomer?
I dont want a show standard cut for my pup but I want to get him used to going before he gets too big to handle! So just a wash and brush up!!
Everytime I speak to fellow dog owners with hairy or largfe breeds I ask who they use and no one seems to recommend anyone local to me, the one highly recommended groomer I did find is retiring!!
My sister has a Scottie dog and tried 3 near where she lives the first two almost wrecking his coat by the way he was cut and gave him a fear of going back! So I dont want my little fella to suffer because I have failed to do my homework!

any suggestions how to locate a gromer or highly recommended in the Hants area would be welcome!!
thanx

Word of mouth is ALWAYS better than anything else :) Do you attend ringcraft or training classes and can you ask there? How about at the local Vets?

What breed do you have and where abouts are you in Hants, Findles?

Val
I have an OES and am near Southampton.
I have spoken to my vet but the one they recommended is the retiring one!

I spoke with people at the training classes I was going to but that was not local I am about to change to a local dog training class so I will ask again I just like to get several verdicts before I try!!

I did this with vets and chose our vet and then after seeing him a few times & he is great ! found he was awarded the Petplan vet of the year award last year so word of mouth worked there!

you may find it s more satisfactory to find an exhibitor of oes who is prepared to do it for you.

I'm in Berkshire and know groomers in North Hants, but Southampton will be too far away, so I won't be of any help.
Is your breeder reasonably near? Or if she shows, she may be able to put you in touch with a local breeder, as Sam has suggested.
