I had my son two years ago I had spd throughout. Pregnancy. I also have. On going. Back issues. Two failed disc ops and hip dsplasia my spd keeps coming back I thought it would go away once I had my. Son my c section. Am struggling to ride my horse and show my pointer

What in this case does SPD stand for?

I feel your pain, I had SPD (Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction) for about a year after my son was born and I've had it even worse with this pregnancy. I use a pelvic support belt night and day which helps a little but I believe an on-going problem requires a chiropractor as I've heard that it is due to bones being out of alignment.

I had hip problems in pregnancy and several friends had quite severe spd so feel your pain.
If you are still struggling I suggest you go back to the doctors. You should not still be suffering 2 years after the birth of your son. Usually natural childbirth makes it worse as the baby comes out vaginally through the pelvis but you would have eliminated that extra stress on the pelvis by having a c-sec.  Are you sure it is spd you are still suffering from now? It could be sciatica or to do with your back problems. I definitely th8nk it needs more investigation so the right course of action can be taken x

Have you tried acupuncture I had that when I was pregnant. It helped. So much I can hardly sit so painfulw going to have ask my friend to show my Pointer. Next weekend. At open show

Yep a fellow sufferer here and was nearly put on morphine over the last few weeks of my pregnancy because even with crutches I struggled to walk.

Is he your first? I didn't have it at all in the first pregnancy, had it in the second. It vanished within weeks after giving birth the first time. When I appeared at the hospital pregnant for the third time, they told me "Oh, we usually advice people not to have another baby if they've had it badly with SPD as it can become permanent". Time to say that THEN! Towards the end of that pregnancy I was in a wheelchair. The last few weeks (must have been at least 6 weeks) it was so bad I had a choice between total bed rest at home or stay in hospital -I was actually rushed to hospital in such severe pain they thought it was labour. It's 13 years ago now and it has never gone away 100 %. For instance I cannot ever lay on my back as then everything gets bad again, I have to be on my side.  I am however better off than a friend who also had a third baby despite having suffered it before, she has been on crutches ever since and that must be about ten years ago now.

Ask our doctor about a nerve inhibitor drug.

I started to get an intolerance to tramadol and so a looked alternative drugs and I am currently on neurontin. It is a drug used in epilepsy but is used in chronic pain management as well.

I take that plus naproxen and top up with paracetamol if I need it.

So far it has been working well although weight gain seems to be an issue but the side effects are far less than tramadol and I am sleeping well and don't feel spaced out at all. It is early days but well worth a try :-)

Keir is my second I lost a daughter at 14weeks pregnant 7yearz ago I had it both pregnancys sod started. About 6 weeks I do have history of pelvis problems its related to my back and hip issues. I have tried acupuncture. It seemed to help I got it free throw midwife s at. Hospital they offers acupuncture. And armothrerpy to pregnant ladies unfortunately I can not afford to keep it up due to having so many pets. And horse I am going to ask to see consultant I am under for my back and see what he says am getting really. Fed up been in sever pain and not been able to ride when am bad. Or show my Pointer and play with my son

See your GP first as they can prescribe it. My professor doesn't really have much input to pain medication as all he focusing on is treatment rather than pain management. Or get referred to a pain management consultant as they will focus on the pain and the person on the quality of life you we having where a lot of neurosurgeons  sometimes bypass.
