Topic Dog Boards / General / Advertise your designer crossbred pups -at Crufts!
- By Goldmali Date 01.03.13 12:51 UTC
Did anyone else get a marketing e-mail from a website that advertises puppies? (Not one of the more common ones.) I've just had one today, saying the company in question will be at Crufts and for a fee you can advertise your puppies AT Crufts with them, as they are planning to have boards with adverts on. In the mail was included several examples of recent adverts on the site, one of which reads something like "Rare purebred Puggle puppies". So now people can advertise their designer crossbreeds at Crufts.

I don't know what others feel about this, I would have no problem with them being advertised as 'mongrels', I do however, strongly disagree with them being advertised as 'designer breeds'.

I do have a problem, you are no longer allowed to advertise pups for sale on your bench only, if I remember right a card with your name and address plus if applicable your business. So once again it seems one rule for the pure breeds and another for everyone else.

Is the Kennel Club aware though?

I´m not a dog breeder, nor am I into showing.  However I do feel very strongly that The Kennel Club should NOT allow "designer" dogs to be advertised at Crufts.  Crufts is supposed to be for the best of the purebred pedigree dogs or for competing working dogs (obedience and agility).  I have no problem with charities advertising for homes for their dogs but nothing else. If Crufts (Kennel Club) allow the advertising of these "designer" mongrels then they are encouraging it, which is not what I thought the KC and Crufts was all about.

Do they know?  If you feel so strongly perhaps you should pass this information on to them.

I have contacted the KC now about this and they say they are concerned and will visit the trade stand to check whether it meets their requirements or not -so fingers crossed.

**SIGH**  here we go........ :-( :-(

I agree, my biggest bugbear and it makes me really cross.

Good point and perhaps they should be told of this advert as the rest of us can't do this, however I don't think the KC are aware of what is going on half the time. :-)

The floodgates are opening..........

See my post above Carrington, I contacted them.

Why wait to visit the stand ?
Ask them about their intentions before Crufts - if it's not suitable, ban them.
Be pro-active !!!

Agree, sort it out NOW. The KC are not the fastest to respond to complaints (speaking from experience) so not much faith in them at all.

See my post above Carrington, I contacted them.

**Thumbs up!**   That's great. :-)
