I bought my mother a poinsettia plant as is traditional in our family for Christmas, but with all the manic guest stuff completely forgot to give it to her. Not surprisingly, it's not looking too good 2 months on, though hubby did keep it going quite well for a while. I have done a bit of a search, and I suspect I may be asking the impossible, but can anyone suggest somewhere that I can order a plant at this time of year, to send her on Mothering Sunday? I've search some florists websites and they aren't appearing, so I suspect I may be out of luck, but thought it was worth asking! :-)

Best of luck. They are extremely dificult to keep. I think I once read that 90% end up in the bin! Have you lokked on tesco, sainsburys and asda web sites? I think they do deliveries of plants and flowers.

I doubt whether you will get one now as the coloured bracts start to 'go off' around now. I still have one (a gift from a friend last October), but it's not really at it's best now. Why not buy your mother another plant instead :) :)

Saw something about Poinsettias on the local news just before last Christmas - there is a major grower of them in the local area. Apparently they need strictly regulated hours of daylight (or is it darkness? One or the other!) to produce the red bracts, which is why they are only sold around that time of year, and are so difficult to keep later on.

Just google poinsetta ceramics and there are a multitude of cups, mugs etc. Have fun choosing - hope you can find that something special for her :) xxxx

I've done that in the past, handmade her a rug with a poinsettia on. It's a option perhaps. :-)
