Yes, work on getting her used to the lead at home in her familiar environment and don't even think about using it outside until she's fine with it at home.

Meanwhile, you can carry her around and let her see the world from your arms.  There's no rush - at 6 months, she is well outside the socialisation period, so you don't have to rush to get it done before a certain time.  With older unsocialised dogs, it is best to take it slowly.

I wouldnt worry about taking her out and about for a walk. I think that with time and sensible introductions she will be fine. In the short time youve had her she has lost some of the fears she had and I'm sure walking and meeting new people/situations will also be fine.

What did you decide to do?

Such a huge improvement so soon is a really good sign that this pup might not be as difficult to turn around as you fear. The biggest hurdle is over if they are getting on now, and as long as you are patient but persistent I am sure you will be able to do all the things with her that you want to do. Try to look forward to it all, thinking positive that the end result will be good. Then you might actually enjoy watching her progress as you turn her into a happy well balanced dog :-)

Just treat her as if she were really only 8 weeks old.
