Has anyone else been approached by a reporter from, I think, something called the Derbyshire Guardian? He was wanting to run a feature on dog breeds in the UK with pictures and breeders details. He couldn't say who has commissioned this article, thought it was 'a lady who runs Crufts'. He couldn't give a name although he knew mine. Does anyone know if this is harmless? FWIW I said I couldn't help him.

We've been featured in the 'Derbyshire' magazine in the past and were notified by the KC that they'd recommended us for the publication, then the editor rang and made arrangements. 

I find it a little odd that someone who has been "commissioned" to write an article does not know who has commissioned it. Ask for the website of the journal/paper and look up the editor and ring them and ask them about the article. That is really the only way of being sure what your are dealing with.

I'm sure you're right. I felt the reporter who phoned could have done a lot better - being so vague didn't give me any confidence about the article.

Sounds deeply dodgy to me. Generally, when reporters/journos are vague and breezy about detail it means they have an agenda they would rather not reveal. For me, the manner of approach gives off big red warning signs.

And, if you agree you are going to Crufts with your dogs you are letting someone know that your home may be empty, be careful.

Good point Nova. I told him I couldn't help him. He then asked me what was my reason so I said he hadn't given me enough information. He had no answer to that so I said goodbye.
