Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / Popped back in to say thank you

Would just like to update you and say thank you to the lovely people who responded to my post about Harry lunging and growling at other dogs.  I have found a very nice trainer (APDT) and we are progressing nicely, albeit slowly.  Its an absolutely lovely morning here and we went for an extra long walk to enjoy the sunshine and both of us felt more relaxed wandering through the lanes.  Met several dogs Harry would normally go ballistic at and experienced one token growl at one and walked past the other.  Some of the other dog walkers are making a point of stopping a short distance away from us and having a chat so that Harry chills out and appreciates that his naughty behaviour isn't making the other dogs go away and he is coping very well with this.  A couple of very nice ladies will walk with us when we progress even more.  But for the first time I do now feel we can improve.  I also think that now I'm more optimistic Harry is picking up that I am more relaxed.  I'm also getting in to the habit of 'thinking dog' as someone suggested. Thanks again for the advice it was much appreciated.

Nice habit to get in to.  :-)  :-)

Good Luck for further progress.
