Hi,Im not particularly good at deciphering dog body language, and I just wondered if anyone can tell me whats going on if two strange dogs meet for the first time and sniff noses?A lovely white husky type ran across to my 3(no attempt to recall by owner) There was no agression, but apart from the strange dog running around mine, this was the only interaction. There was no tailwagging os sniffing elswhere, and it only happened with one of my dogs.Agressive?suspicious, normal? Just wondered! thanks!
a friend told me when dogs do that, its to decipher the strength/power of the other dog. seems feasable.

Can't say for sure without seeing it really but it sounds like the strange dog was a little unsure (no wagging and running round), came over to check yours out and decided that was enough and left. Nothing aggressive, just wondering what they were like and maybe then deciding that 3 was too many for him.
Speculation of course but that's what it sounds like to me :-)

Oh cheers,JJ,I will have a look for that,it looks very interesting! And,yes, come to think of it,one of my 3 is always sticking her nose in my eye,Maybe she s challenging me!On a different note,I was in bed, poorly with a temperature, and the sheer pleasure of her icy nose on my hot throbbing forehead was bliss!

I'm a big fan of Turid Rugaas too. I have a couple of her books. She had a wonderful gift which she shared.
Another fan of Turid Rugaas here, did have one of her books, but lent it out and can't remember who to. I also watched one of her videos and was very impressed how natural and calm both her and her dogs are.
