She can't poo. She keeps trying but cannot go.. She has ate a couple of bit of her food since 8am but I mean one or two bits.. Panting and sleeping then wondering about then some digging.
She best have these pups today haha kids are at nannys and grandad a for the afternoon. Don't know what time they are bringing them back but bed time is at 7..
Also to add the younger dog seems to of come over all guard dog now in the garden she will asses the borders and let out some barks before her normal routine.
she sounds like shes not pooing but pushing down getting ready to have them...be preperd in case she pops 1 out in the garden i always take a towel out with me once mum is starting to bare down.

Yes that may well be contractions rather than pooing, make sure you watch like a hawk, go out with a torch if it gets dark if she insists on going outside. My girl spent the whole day popping in and outside before she had her first litter!
Oooo. Think she could be contracting by sounds of it. I'll be checking on here for more reports ;)
Cannot see any contractions myself but who knows. She does seem fed up bless her..
Think she is losing more plug each time she tries though as its clear and I doubt that's coming from her bum but you can see it on the floor after.
Getting dark out now but both phones have torch apps, old baby towels on dining room table.. It's going to be a long night, had the stud owner on the phone earlier asking how things where going. They are having one of the pups.
when the contrations start you cant always see them till they get much stronger.i didnt see any with my girl till she was having her pups.
Yeah I remember the big contractions from last time. Although by the time she was done last time she was excuse me farting the pups out!

>she let even the next door neighbour hold pups under 24hours
Sorry, I don't consider that sensible. Nobody, but nobody touches my pups. And I think it is unnerving for a newly whelped bitch to have other peoples smell on her pups. I supose you allow people to see the pups after they're born? Because nobody gets to see mine until they are 5 weeks old.
My next door was on call to help as my bitch was still having pups when my husband went to work my bitch knows her very well and she was the second pair of hands. I can assure you my bitch showed no signs of being distressed and loves my next door neighbour..
I'm sorry that my bitch is a happy girl and is not aggressive or threatened by people.. I would much rather have a bitch happy to have people around than one who would cull her litter because a friend pops in.. My girl would be depressed being kept away from then general hustle of the home she is very much a part of the family and is treated as such not something to be shut or locked away...
It's not very nice to assume something of someone you don't know. I could well assume that you lock your bitch away from even daylight for 5weeks but that would be rude!
Not all bitches are the same mine does not want to be separated (in diffrent rooms they are apart though) from the younger and as I said would be very unhappy at not see'ing the people who come to my home on a regular basis purely because she has had puppy's. my next door neighbour is a good friend was our bridesmaids and godmother to my children, and will get our children should the worst happen to us. So not just some random person..
No possible puppy owners view pups before 5weeks and then they must wash hands and be down on the floor I will not risk them dropping a puppy.

>I'm sorry that my bitch is a happy girl and is not aggressive or threatened by people..
I never inferred that your bitch is anything but! Nobody would breed from a bitch that was otherwise. What I
am saying is that too much hustle and bustle is not sensible for your bitch. She needs calm and quiet after whelping.
And as few visitors as possible.
I am sorry for reading your post wrong in that case.. As you will know lack of sleep and words on a web page do not always mix well. It just came across that I put my bitch and litter at risk by having a trusted extra pair of hands.
The only people who will see pups before 5 but still won't get to hold unless helping to deliver is family/friends who pop in every week anyway and of course us who live here... Pups will be handled by us in the home but only if mum is happy which on past litter she is more than happy for.
Day 7 of no sleep...
Back to the bitch she is restless tonight and there was some clear fluid on the kitchen floor.. I am watching thought the glass doors as to not disturb possible build up to labour.. Once she starts will be straight in with the towels/scales etc
Still no visible contracts however or heavy panting

My girl didn't have any visible contractions with her first pup, she slept all night, me - eyes held open with match sticks while she snored for England, she had done a little panting during the evening, then next morning she then stood up, had a wee on the paper and out came a pup, the last two pups she needed oxytocin for, my vet she had never seen a bitch deliver pups so effortlessly - she slept on the vets floor, stood up and out came a pup, so watch her very carefully, they can take you completely off guard even when you think you're expecting it.
New I forgot something no match sticks!!! Got her dozing on and off in the kitchen and the husband snoring next to me... Although he is ill so I guess I have to give some sympathy there. I get more sleep with new born babies!
We where fine up till pup 9 last time when she could not seem to detach pup her self then we thought she had finished but was having the odd contraction an hour apart so rang the vet he said well by 9 they should fall out.. Let her out for a poo and she dropped one in the garden was a stillborn though sadly worked on it for an hour before saying there is nothing more we can do...
She's fine I'm shattered no pups and no brain left for me.. I had a brief nap while partner watched her but nothing to report back apparently.. So I guess I still have to cook a Sunday roast

Any more news, I keep checking back every couple of hours
Nothing to report really.. She had proper poo this morning but been straining to go with no result for the rest of the day with the poop..
A bit more digging and licking she's day 60 now and last time she whelped on day 61 d I've read a few things on how bitches may follow pattern on when they drop also on how many they have.
Weather is terrible so everything is getting covered in mud grr

To me that straining for a poo is contractions. Have you seen a vet?
Vet not concerned as its only when she goes outside she does not do it in the house at all and because she has emptied her bowels properly now believes she is struggling due to he size..
She is content wanting a fus eating little bits here and there and drinking well..
I believe she has lost some more of her plug, so if it is contractions I would say slow first stage labour
my girl lost her plug the day before ,the day she had them she was very clean and dry wen she went to the loo.

>so if it is contractions I would say slow first stage labour
Are you 100% certain it isn't uterine inertia?
I would say it is not. She onlyl pushes like that in her poo position which is different to her giving birth position, also only when in the garden and in the toilet area no where else does she do it. She still doing licking of her area as if getting ready she's not really going for it to show anything stuck or even trying to come out, I cannot see anything trying to come out stuck or not stuck. She's just been taken for a gentle walk up and down the road which did looks to show signs of possible starting but so far has lead to nothing. From first mating she still has three days from second five days. Will take her to the vets for a overall check in the morning to make sure, over the phone they think possible slow first stage witch can last for a couple of days.
yes thats what i did, took her to the vets, she had an internal came home 1st pup was born 5mins later.
Still no pups at the vets later this morning

I think id be going sooner rather than later. hope all is well.
We have the first possible slot with the actual vet, he was already in consult by the time we rang so had to speak to the vet nurse.. I would rather my vet check her than the nurse trust my vet and don't really know the nurse

Once there if there was a problem then the vet would see her so I wouldn't under these circumstances be waiting for an appointment I would tell them I was on my way.
Primary Inertia doesn't have any signs or symptoms other than failure to progress due to lack of contractions, sometimes the bitch will have a glazed look in her eyes, there are no pups to be felt in the vagina etc.[ that would be secondary inertia if things had been moving and then stopped,"feathering" can sometimes get things going again]this can be hereditary but as she has whelped before that isn't goimg to be the case, only one pup failing to trigger the hormones to establish labour or a very large litter for breed over stretching the uterus and not allowing for contractions.
Hope things go OK
Been to the vets nothing stuck pups are fine, mums fine, he thinks she has a couple of days left so unless anymore concerns he wants us in on Friday if she has not had them by then

WOW Friday is a long way off.
He said Friday going by her dates day 63 from first mating in Wednesday 63 from second is Friday. He believes the straining is purely trying to poo. The pups are not in the birth canal, her milk is not in yet. She is big so he believes that is the trouble going for a poo. Any other concerns to go back but if everything normal Friday as that's 65 days from first mating which is the longest he will let a bitch go without some intervention.

It sounds to me like the initial digging you mentioned in your first post could be discomfort of puppies getting into position. And as the mucus plug has been coming away things are getting going.
What is she eating? Im just wondering if she could be a little constipated ?
Yeah he said she has "dropped" so that would fit with the uncomfortableness.
She's on a complete puppy food that is made to a breeders order (our last stud dogs owner has her own food made and we order from her).. Free access to water. He has said she could go any day but he thinks she has a couple left which would take her to day 63 from first and 61 from second

I was only worried as my dogs nearly always push in the pooing position! Maybe it's just my breed then that does this, but my last two litters both girls would come up to me bend into the poo position for me to then be ready to catch the pups :) I would be extremely worried waiting until Friday with all the actions that she has been showing so far.
My girl stands properly but pushes while having her head there and walking in circles.
We are keeping a very close eye on here. We have had more digging in her box since we have been back from the vets.
did the vet give her an internal??.
Sorry about lack of response we now have panting, shivering, she's restless and crying

I was hoping you were reporting they were already here, she is certainly dragging it out.
I wish! And yeah my girl sure likes to know everyone is waiting on her! Might have to change her name to frame queen after all this!! She wants pancake day puppies! We was just getting ready to take her for a short walk and she sat there shivering and panting.. But this could still take hours...
That was supposed to say drama queen
i dont think she willtake hours now pancake will have to be the name of 1st pup lol...
> she is certainly dragging it out
If I have it right she is only day 62 today. My Inka with her first litter had me thinking she was imminnent for a week, she eventually whelped day 65 from first mating so probably took on her 3rd mating, ovulating at her second, so standing for the first two days before ovualtion.
This time she went 62 days from a day 16 mating, mated days 16, 18, and 19, last time she was mated days 14, 16 and 18 and probably ovulat4ed around day 16 both occasions.
Yeah she is day 62 now from first mating, day 60 from second we only did two goes as both had a good 20-30min tie, her first litter she had them on day 61. It was the studs first time so we where lucky really as he was a bit erm off goal to start with but kept trying till he got it right. Been having signs on and off from day 56.. Just taking her for another small walk out the front of the house..
Ah yes pancake the puppy..
I should call them all something to do with pancakes like maple and syrup, lemon..
Would make for an interesting litter list

Crepe Suzette,
Hope all is ok and no dates mean pup are on the ground x
