Topic Dog Boards / General / Petzlife oral care products- anyone used?
- By lynseygraham [gb] Date 07.02.13 21:03 UTC
I keep seeing these products advertised all over the place and was just wondering if anyone had used them, and if so, were you impressed with the the results?

I would like to try and find something to use with my 8 year old JRTxSBT- his teeth are actually pretty clean and in good nick, but he is starting to get a few with tartar etc on them and one is slightly inflammed from time to time around the gum line.

He has dry food, daily access to raw hides and other chews (which he does chew)- whether this makes any odds to his teeth or not, I don't know. Don't want to go down the "scale and polish" route at the vets if not absolutely necessary as he does struggle after anaesthetic and it takes him quite a few days to get back to 100%.

If no to petzlife, any other suggestions in terms of products etc?

I say bones too.. I've heard great things about Petzlife and purchased some, used it twice and then forgotten about it, just sitting in my fridge now! Should really use it before it goes off.

I had great results very quickly with Petzlife on an oldie with terrible teeth

I am really making an effort to remember to use the Petzlife on my oldie, it's just his back teeth that are not good. He has come to the age where he is a nightmare with brushing. I bought the gel and not the spray and I have it in peppermint, I am going to change to the salmon. The thing that I can't get used to it witholding food and drink for half an hour before and after.

A friend has used it on hers, she said it took longer than they say to work but that's because she kept forgetting to use it, she is very impressed with the results.

I raw feed mine but the oldie has minced bone and not marrow bone, but I gave him one the other day and unbeknown to me he swallowed a huge piece and was poorly for a few days so no more bones for him :(
