Hi I am new :-) just wondered who is going to crufts this year?
- By MsTemeraire Date 28.01.13 00:13 UTC
I'm going as a visitor - have been trying to get there for the last 6 years, but finally managed it this year, and it will be my first time in about 20 years. Hotel booked for two nights, ticket for Best In Show all sorted :) even have a get-together planned with some folks from a dog forum I'm on and a couple of FB friends.

You might find that those who are exhibiting won't say so on here, unless they are going solely to help out with Discover Dogs or for other non-competitive reasons.

If it's your first time, prepare to be amazed :)

> You might find that those who are exhibiting won't say so on here,

Why?

I would imagine a high proportion of those who show will have entered.

I have, entered just the two youngsters, just hope I get there this year, as last year we had car trouble 20 miles out from NEC, and had to limp back home.
- By LJS Date 28.01.13 08:51 UTC
Yes Gundog day.
- By Paula Dal [gb] Date 28.01.13 09:22 UTC
I am going with my girl on Utility day, missed out last year as she was in season but I'm praying it won't happen again!

Showing a Papillon Friday, doing DD (Malinois) Saturday, showing 2 Malinois Sunday.
- By Boody Date 28.01.13 10:18 UTC
I'm going on utility, got 3 entered but looking like only one will be going.
- By waggamama [gb] Date 28.01.13 11:26 UTC
I'll be there, my first time exhibiting, bit nervous that I'll have trouble getting around and finding the right place to go. I find it hard enough to do that at Champ shows. At least I went to LKA so have a bit of an idea about showing there. Very excited either way. :)
- By tooolz Date 28.01.13 11:44 UTC
Ive entered 5 on Toy day but unlikely to take them all, entered just in case.
With 2 rings running all day... its a sprint and a marathon all rolled into one.
- By king of bling Date 28.01.13 11:55 UTC
Terrier day here :)
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 28.01.13 13:03 UTC
Blimey, that would be a marathon indeed! Just taking my older girl this year, but have qualified both of them for next year. :-)

Agree with Barbara!
Why?....
I've never found that to be the case in 8 yrs of membership of CD! In fact there was a time where we used to make CD badges and wear them!
I loose pounds sprinting from the Sibes (Bl&@dy Hall 5!!) to other halls each year to meet up with and cheer on other members, and was it last year or year before... There was a great gang of us met up at Marianne's bench at the BSDs ( and my boxes of Krispy Kreme donuts were gone in 60 seconds!! :-D)
But every year I draw up a list of everyone I want to get to see most of which ( aside from my close friends of whom we just text each other!) I get from the CD pre-Crufts threads!
- By Goldmali Date 28.01.13 15:15 UTC
HG you absolutely MUST come and meet my mad pup Penny. Dad a police dog, granny is Ripley. :)
- By HuskyGal Date 28.01.13 16:34 UTC
I can't wait Marianne!!! :-D
I adore Ripley so I'm fully expecting Penny will be stealing a bit of my heart ( and donut!) too!!
- By munkeemojo Date 28.01.13 17:00 UTC

- By LJS Date 28.01.13 17:12 UTC

- By biffsmum [gb] Date 28.01.13 17:29 UTC
Will be going on the Sunday. Taking Stan to show , Max for Discover Dogs and probably Herbert to show as his owner is still in hospital. Have also offered to do Discover Dogs in the afternoon with Jo and Fay.It's my Birthday so, as well as everything else you cart along, have to take a Birthday cake to share!!  Have a feeling I'll be knackered at the end of the day...
- By roscoebabe [gb] Date 28.01.13 17:56 UTC
I'm going on Saturday. Wanted to go Thursday but can't get anybody to dog sit for me. Have my usual shopping list sorted and credit card at the ready lol
- By suejaw Date 28.01.13 18:01 UTC
I'm there on the Sunday. Every year I vow to meet with those there, don't usually get beyond hall!!

Liv i seem to think you mislaid the KK last year? Marianne I must get to your bench, shouting at you as you board a bus isn't good enough ;-)

I have gone looking for peeps in hall 5, got as far as Lea finding me :)
- By HuskyGal Date 28.01.13 18:07 UTC
Yeah, had just come out of hospital last year Sue ( first year I'd missed!)
Year before do you remember we kept texting and when I was in Hall 5 you were in 2 and when you were in 5 I was in 3.... And so on! :-D
I'm def coming to see your Nala this year, I always spend some time at the Rotts ringside I still find it to have one of the best atmospheres, inclusive and welcoming and LOVE the cheers! ( I know many sniff at this!)
You'll have to come for the KK addicts meeting at Mariannes!!
- By OwnedbyaBC [je] Date 28.01.13 18:38 UTC
I qualified my baby this year locally so we're coming over for Crufts. Ferry booked, and thankfully no hotel as staying with her breeder/friends. Partly excited and partly terrified !!
- By Celli [gb] Date 28.01.13 18:40 UTC
One of these days I'll get to Crufts, and nab all those KK's .
- By Ells-Bells [gb] Date 28.01.13 18:49 UTC
I am relatively new to showing and have qualified for the first time - very nervous about going but hoping for a super day regardless.
- By roscoebabe [gb] Date 28.01.13 19:06 UTC
I've gone every yr for the last 35 yrs. I used to do all 4 days but as I've got older I find it too tiring now. Usually do 2 days but as I don't have a dog sitter it's down to just the 1 day.
- By Tectona [gb] Date 28.01.13 19:17 UTC
Showing there for the first time, on the Saturday, stomach is churning just thinking about it D:
- By Blay [gb] Date 28.01.13 19:23 UTC
Ells-Bells - me too!  I always go as a spectator but this time my youngster has qualified.  I have no illusions about him - he is not super quality but we qualified fair and square in a good sized class so we must take the opportunity of showing at Crufts!  I will be going with my dear long departed Mum firmly in my mind.  She showed many, many years ago and would be truly chuffed to know we had made it to the green carpet!  Will be very nervous on the day, and not expecting to be placed, but determined to make the most of the experience.

Good luck to you - have a lovely time!

Blay

- By Brainless [gb] Date 28.01.13 20:20 UTC
hehe I have a mad pup Peni!
- By donnabl [gb] Date 28.01.13 20:47 UTC
Will be taking our 3 girls, but most excited about cheering on our babies.  Tectona, you'll be fine!
- By MsTemeraire Date 28.01.13 20:48 UTC

> Agree with Barbara!

Sorry! had a senior moment... thought it might be considered bad form for people to mention they are competing!
- By HuskyGal Date 28.01.13 21:04 UTC

>one of these days I'll get to Crufts, and nab all those KK's.

I'll gladly swap for a 'piece and chips' Hen ;-)
- By Goldmali Date 28.01.13 21:27 UTC
You're probably thinking of cats MsT. :) Used to be you cold get disqualified if you said online you were entered somewhere.
- By MsTemeraire Date 28.01.13 21:40 UTC

> You're probably thinking of cats MsT. :-) Used to be you cold get disqualified if you said online you were entered somewhere.

Ahhhh that's it! Thanks :)
- By Brainless [gb] Date 29.01.13 00:46 UTC
We are on Thursday,
- By Ells-Bells [gb] Date 29.01.13 06:34 UTC
Blay - we too qualified in a large class so very proud of that achievement.  You only qualify for such events for the first time once and feel I must go for the experience.  She is a quality bitch, it's me that lets her down.

Good luck to you too x
- By Chatsworth [gb] Date 29.01.13 06:48 UTC
I'm going on Thursday too....with a full purse, comfy shoes but unfortunately no dogs!
- By saintmarys [gb] Date 29.01.13 10:55 UTC
Going on Saturday  will be in hall 5 around Golden  and  Chessie rings
- By Elly [gb] Date 29.01.13 14:30 UTC
Hoping to go Saturday for shopping and a big dose of Goldens :)
- By flattiemum [gb] Date 29.01.13 16:02 UTC
Saturday with the two mad Flats and the bored husband!!!
- By WolfieStruppi [gb] Date 29.01.13 16:27 UTC
Decisions decisions. One day to shop, the other to spectate or try & fit both in the same day?
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 29.01.13 17:58 UTC
Don't suppose you'll be there Toy day, I have Krispy Kreme withdrawal since moving from London.... ;-)
- By JAY15 [gb] Date 29.01.13 21:17 UTC
Hi I am new  just wondered who is going to Crufts this year?

I will be taking three dogs on Gundog day--Jack, who qualified for life last year with a reserve ticket, Bean and Rye (uncle and niece). If I could find a place to put me up with four dogs I'd stay overnight and arrive fresh and breezy on the day, but I think we may be doomed to the usual early morning race down. Everybody pray for a dry day...the thought of trying to get three dogs and all their kit from car to hall is speeding up the greying process.
- By Lisakom [gb] Date 30.01.13 07:40 UTC
I`ll be there all 4 days as usual :) with both the mad mops , DD Thursday and Friday, shopping Saturday and showing Sunday
- By dancer Date 30.01.13 18:41 UTC
I'll be showing three that I own in both breed and Gamekeepers on Gundog Day, and one that I bred in breed class. Also be there Thursday in Discover Dogs area.
- By Chillington [pt] Date 31.01.13 11:34 UTC
I'm going the four days, just watching, since I had two bitches qualified (open and veteran), andthe youngest had puppies recently, so is fat and bald, and the veteran lost an incisor playing tug with her daughter...
- By Goldmali Date 31.01.13 13:12 UTC
My veteran lost a tooth, I continued to show her for another 2 years and no judge ever noticed! (Or at least never mentioned it.)
- By Annabella [gb] Date 31.01.13 15:07 UTC
I am going on gundog day as a visitor .cant wait,my highlight of the year

Sheila
- By Dakkobear [gb] Date 31.01.13 17:15 UTC
My dog is going on Hound day with OH and DD. But I can't go as it's on Thursday and I can't get off work :-( boo hoo! Still it will save me money as he only ever buys food for himself when he is there whereas I come home with a car load of dog goodies :-D
- By Chillington [pt] Date 31.01.13 18:02 UTC
My veteran is a marvellous bitch, and I respect the judge a lot. I feel like I would be doing them both a disservice by showing her with a missing tooth in such a visible place. To my bitch, that like this ended her show career getting best of breed and becoming champion of yet another country under a very respected judge; and to the judge that deserves to be shown dogs in the best possible condition.
