How do stakes classes differ from normal ones?

In stakes classes you will be with all the different breeds from that group/groups on the day whereas breed classes you are just up against your own breed.

'normal ones' are defined and set by the KC except that is to special classes that can be what the organisers wish.

Stakes can be any of the 'normal type classes' but there are always prizes.

AV classes are for any variety and can be 'normal classes' or specials.

Always wondered why that are called Stakes classes. In cats, mixed classes like these are called 'side classes'. Stakes makes me think of horse-racing! :)

I assume it is because when you enter a sweepstake class you are competing for a piece of the stake.
