I breed and show dogs and now have 5 ranging 20 months to 11. They are a terrier breed.
All the dogs are fine with one another and with us nearly all of the time.
The problem is barking as a pack. Not all of the time but when we leave them ( they live indoors) and when we return and when visitors come. Apart from that they are great dogs but this is becoming a bit much now. It got worse as my youngster matured. To add a bit of info I have a 9 year old neutered boy who is a very stressed lad about being left and tends to wind the girls up. Also my youngster who is a brilliant dog on her own tends to go everywhere with me at the mo because of shows, The others at home with OH, and now expects that come what may so when I have any of the others with me and she is left behind she barks very loudly.
So when we go in or out and when anyone comes they all go crazy together. Any advice for calming a pack situation I'd be grateful. I have seen many calming products and don't know whether any are useful but would prefer to find a way of calming the pack other than that.
Once we are in and I think once we are gone, we have no problem at all really.
I realise I have created this by treating each one as a child but would love to find a way of helping a bit as drives my OH insane. Luckily I moved a few years ago to a house with few neighbours so not too much to worry about there as have light industrial units next door and they are the main neighbours.
