The RSPCA has been accused of double standards for failing to prosecute over cockfighting in the travelling community, yet spending hundreds of thousands prosecuting a hunt.

It claims the film evidence of the gypsies didn't meet a certain criteria due to lack of information on dates, time and location, surely the film makers could have provided that information ?

i was reading my latest dogs today mag and the editors comments bit said she went to a meeting about puppyfarming and dog breeding and that the rspca person there said they could not afford to proscute puppyfarms, but how cna they not afford that when they could afford to spend the huge amounts the did with the other high profile ones likt the hunt one.

I was at that meeting too, it was interesting.

The RSPCA in Wales do not get involved with commercial dog breeding premises at all any complaint by a member of the public to the RSPCA if the premises are licensed, is immediatly referred to the local Council who are responsible for licensing the premises. It would be the Council that will decide if they wish to involve the RSPCA and it will be the Council that will take the lead role.  Waiting for a Welsh Council to prosecute one of their licensed breeders no matter how much evidence is given to them of breeders not compliant with their licence conditions is an eternity - it just never happens.

When I say commercial breeders that includes puppy farmers/battery dog farmers, those that supply dealers and pet shops.
