Moose is on her 13th day- so am assuming she should be in standing heat.

I tell Junior off when he tries to get her and tell him no (soon to be 13 yr old Boston Terrier)
now I don't no if she clues in that I don't want him doing so- cause now when he tries she tells
him off herself now. She has layed down & Junior being what male dogs do jumps on her and she stands up lol

Do you think cause I am telling him no and stopping him that she in return tells him off? She does have dog panties on
of course. She has taken to laying beside us at our feet just to get away from him. Or do you think she really isn't in standing
heat as of yet and things may still change where she doesn't tell him off any more? She's on her 2nd heat- one more to go
and will be having her spayed 2 months or so after her 3rd heat. So no lil boston dane/pit crosses running around lol Boy that
would be a weird looking dog- Even tho I'll miss my lil man since he is getting very old still not even an option in my mind.

When she is ready she will do anything to accomodate him so don't take any chances.

A few years back there was a litter of rottie x mini dachsie pups, the owners thought that size was an obstacle so never bothered to seperate them, she either layed down for him or he climbed on a piece of furniture, the pups had a huge rottie head on a dachsie body, not good for their backs as they matured.

In my opinion, your taking too big a risk leaving them together...especially now!!

I don't leave them together unsupervised (we started separating them on day 10)- she's kenneled when we are not around and put out separate when they have to go to the wash room.
In the morning cause I am the only one up I take Junior with me when I get ready for work so I don't have to throw her back in the kennel.
I told Junior off a couple times this morning and then Moose turned around and told him off- he has since left her alone.
Not my 1st time with a bitch in heat lol- just been surprised that she is telling him off- not sure if it has any thing to do with me telling him off.

I wouldn't be picking a day to seperate them, I had a bitch who was ready on Day 8 and got pregnant, so caution is required thoughout the season and beyond what you may think is her fertile time.

I wouldn't keep telling them off, he is only trying to do what his hormones tell him to do.  It is stressful enough to have a bitch in heat around without also being told off every time he shows any interest.  Makes a very negative situation for him.  Just keep them separated, then there's no need to be constantly telling him off!  It's likely too that the bitch is picking up your anger...

I wouldnt leave them together unsupervised or not from day 1. ....it just isnt fair on either of them, you are asking alot to do what comes naturally to the dog inparticular....like I say this is my opinion but I suspect others will be thinking along the same lines.

I just tell him no and remove him from her- not in an angry voice. usually after the 2nd or 3rd time now he
knows and lays away from her or he comes and sits and cuddles with me on the couch :-) He's my cuddle bug.
I hand feed him now his meals cause well to interested in her smells- my poor boy. Thank fully only about 17
more days left and life should be back to normal for another 6 months :-( Aaaaw the joys of allowing your girls
to mature 1st b4 you spay them.

I find Vanilla Extract[not essence] masks the smell to a certain degree, few drops on his chest and her tail end plus if he is crated or seperated by a gate put some on a tissue/cloth and put it where he looks through the bars, you will be sick of the smell yourself by the end but it is only while he is really wound up.

Thanks for this tip, Rhodach--my girl is about to come in for the first time herself (she's just turned 9 months), judging by the boys' increasing interest in her. I will give this a try
