Hi all
Another show question if i wanted to go to two shows one on a sat and one on a sun is there any rule that i cant go to two within a short space of time? i showed cats years ago so not sure if same applys to dogs?
Thanks

I haven't heard of any problems of going to 2 shows on consecutive days

You can enter as many shows as you have stamina and money for; you do have to give consideration to your dog though as most find shows tiring mostly because they are so excited and nosey they go all day without sleep something they would never do at home and it is no good showing a tired dog.

I know someone, not me,who entered two shows on the same day.The venues were only a few miles apart and one of the shows was a breed open and the other an all breed open.
I could never do that but there are no rules to say you can't. I have entered shows back to back but find my dog is generally keener at the first show.

Nope the 13 day rule only applies to cats. :)
Sure there can't be a rule as our numerically small breed hold their breed club open show alongside City of Birmingham Champ Show. The breed show is in the morning and their classes at the champ show are in the afternoon so dogs can be entered into two shows on the same day.

This is the norm for many US shows due to distances there will be specialities (breed club shows) in conjunction with a hosting society and often several shows on a weekend, and people attend these clusters, rather than going to one show a week, fortnight/month etc.
Thanks again for replies both shows are very close so was just considering booking both so will see how i feel towards the close of enteries
I've been to shows at the same venue before, e.g. at agricultural shows there is quite often a breed show, obedience show, or agility show, at the same place but at the other end of the field, and run by a different society. Quite a lot of running between the 2 though :-D

Does your dog tend to be quieter or tired the day after? If so he won't show as well at the second one. But if he's like mine are and raring to go again, no problem! I've entered 2 shows on consecutive days several times, and also nowadays I do rally too so the one that does shows and obedience often has 2 things on at the weekend, she doesn't seem to mind at all! I did used to have a boy who sometimes got tired, and I generally got up in the morning of the 2nd show and looked at how lively he was acting before going to the show.

I,ve definitely done both agility and breed at the same agricultural show and was on my knees at the end of the day as I had to do four agility runs with the cav and was showing a chin.
As I dress differently for both events I kept doing a quick change in the back of the car.It was worth it though as my little cav won every agility class and my chin pup won bob and best puppy in show.
However I definitely would think twice before doing this again as I kept panicking that I would miss a class.
Hi
Her first show is on the 10th of february then i have a club show on the 23rd and ive seen a local show on the 24 so no idea how she will be after a show shes a little cow home here lol but as it was local was thinking of going for pratice but not sure wether to go or not as she has another show the following weekend (she has one every weekend in february)

All you can do is give it a try and see how things go as to whether you repeat thr experience. I know of show folk in the states who will show their dog over 3+ days and that is the done thing as shows are in groups close together or different clubs at the same venue on different days.
These days the cost of entry and petrol would put many off.
Hi
think i may book it and see how we both look at the end of the first show lol its only an open show so wont be much of a loss if i decide otherwise

It's the petrol that's the biggest cost, if you're just doing a couple of classes it's only £6 or £7, not the end of the world if you get up the 2nd day and she looks too tired. I'd book it myself, but then I'm hooked on showing! :-D
and me lol ive booked everyshow going right till end of may all the champshows and most of the open shows my only quiet month is march so far lol

if i wanted to go to two shows one on a sat and one on a sun is there any rule that i cant go to two within a short space of time?Last year I managed 2 champ shows and 4 open shows (3 of which were back to back) with 2 dogs in 14 days, travelling from Malvern up to Carlisle and across the Pennines. I wouldn't recommend it, but mainly because it meant my lot got less mud baths than usual :-)

I don't know what breed you have, but I find shows every weekend are easier on
you if you have a coat to keep on top of but potentially boring for your dog and that's the only thing that counts--the day my dogs get fed up is the day we stop going.
hi shes a small, long. smooth coated hound breed not sure if im allowed to say so far its only feb she is out every weekend the rest of the year (up till june) there fairly spaced out as booked most ch shows and breed club ch shows

As long as you make it fun, and do other stuff in the week, she'll probably be fine. Just be aware if she does start looking a bit bored, and give the next one a miss. I nearly spoiled my first one chasing JW points, had to give him a few months off before it became fun for him again. :-)
