The third and final meeting we had went well. Fred wasnt bothered by his speed and size when off lead so he came home with us at lunchtime. So far things have gone as well as we could have hoped. Hes done a wee in the garden, laid on his bed for a bit, ate lunch, played with toys etc. Currently laid on the sheepskin rug with a chew toy =)

Yipppeeee :-)

He sounds like a typical lurcher, 10 mins fast running followed by 7 hours serious sleeping in the comfiest, warmest spot in the house :-)  I wish you all the best with him.

p.s. what's his name and can you link to a photo in your profile :-)

Great! What an exciting time for you all, sounds like your new dog is enjoying himself too  :)

Hes called star ( they named him and as he came in just before christmas its quite appropriate) although shouting freddie star when we are on walks will be amusing. Will try to do the picture now ;)

It is so exciting. I have added his pic of my avatar, its a screenshot of the pic from the rescue website....I cant bring myself to wake him up to take a snap but will update with a better photo once I get one. :)

>although shouting Freddie Star.... will be amusing

 ROFL!!! :-D

It is easy enough to change a name ( I've done it with two rescues )

He looks lovely! So glad he's got his forever home with you and I can't wait to hear more from him x

Awwww.... so pleased for you. x

Oh no keep the name, shouting 'Freddie', 'Star', will give a good talking point/icebreaker.

Oh he's gorgeous, and I like the name too. Keep sharing your settling in stories to tempt others to adopt lurchers (don't share the stealing ones, there will probably be a few) :-)

LOL - pity that my friend doesn't still have her old dog called 'Lusty' - you could have had fun walking together :) :)

I met someone years ago with 2 dogs called Bob and Marley, and I know someone else with dogs called Buddy and Holly, so why not :-D

Aah thank you everyone. Its final, we are keeping him as star :D had a very very good first night. He truly is absolutely amazing. I cant believe we have ended up with such a great dog from rescue. Will definitely be spreading the word that with research you really can find the perfect dog. I have to credit the staff at blue cross too, they were amazing!!
