Well of course they do, they're not going to say 'no, you've got enough, don't need ours!' are they? ;-)

It's simple marketing - convince the buyers they need your product and you will create demand.

Actually the suppliers are not creating the 'demand' they are supplying desire for 'cute puppies' who often sadly outlast this desire long term, hence becoming rescue statistics within months.

Not sure if I have missed this elswhere in the thread but from what I can see of the article the RSPCA have destroyed a total 53,000 animals of which only 3,400 were healthy.

As has been stated already the fault lies with the people who buy and then discard their animals rather than the RSPCA itself.

I totally agree that there are far worse things for an animal than to be put to sleep, especially for those that stand little chance of ever being re-homed.

There is a huge difference between being completely healthy and being re-homeable.
