My pomx is being treated for a uti. Vet said if she isn't emptying her bladder. Bring her in and we will check her and presumably if she is in retention they will empty it. My problem is her last wee was friday lunchtime vet yesterday said she was still ok but since then inspit of being taken out frequently she just turns and runs in or sits down licking herself. Its sunday I would rather my vet see her but they use anither for emegency cover. What do I do ? She isn't distressed nor trying to wee. Just sitting in her bed quietly. She is still eating

Could be hormonal, is she spayed?

Yes. Spayed after 2nd season 4 years old . Doesn't wee frequently anyway isn't drinking but is raw fed so doesn't drink much either. She was def off colour when I took her yesteday and we had notice blood in her wee when she weed with excitement on my son in law !  Is on antibiotics and metacam . I can easily take her tomorrow it just the oncall vet thing for today. She actually barked at something twice this morning and seems happier if it was for no wee I wouldn't be worrying 

Dreadful dilemma when your Vet does not do their own OOH service. Not quite so bad if a local group of Vets share the OOH between them but thoughts of being forced to use a corporate group type service can be a pretty daunting.

If your pomx is not in pain I would wait. If she showed pain then you have to act. I sympathise as the thought of maybe having to do this as the day goes on and into night time is nerve wracking. Especially when the OOH Vet maybe miles away, you have never met them before and have to find the practice location for the first time in the dark with a sick dog in the car.

If she hasn't had a wee for 48 hours, and has a known UTI, it's very possible that she has struvite stones and her bladder or kidneys have become obstructed. This is serious - if she doesn't wee very soon you could lose her. What's her temperature?

I only wondered about hormones because your vet said she was not empting her bladder and that can be hormonal but it can also be a stone as JG suggests. Would want some sort of treatment today if she is off colour or depressed.

She is actually happier than yesterday its just the weeing thing. Will check and decide when I get home shortly have left her with oh and stric instructions to take her into the garden at half hour intervals. Thank u

Panic over ! Little devil has just been out for walk with my big boys happily running around did good wee and poo and is now sitting smiling at me ! Think she was being stubborn and the anti b's have kicked in. Thank you people for your advice and concern

as long as she is weeing then pump fluid into her if she has a UTI, I give a teaspoon of yoghurt in a cup of water 3 times a day (Large breed) ...they just cannot resist drinking it and it will help to flush her bladder out.

Would not over do the milk but if she likes it then try half milk and half water and then reduce the milk as far as you can and still get her to take it. AB do take up to 48 hours to really get going but I expect to see an improvement in 24 if the meds proscribed and the correct ones for the infection being treated.

Milk can cause loose stools but mine love it and I had one that would only drink at shows if I dribbled some milk into it.

Started ab's yesterday morning by injection now on 2 tabs a day so that's over 24 hours now. Yes you are right about the milk but will risk her being a bit loose to get her to drink. Good idea about milk at show's my flatcoat rarely drinks when out and about at things she
has just drunk a 50 \ 50 mix which is a start. Beef chunks for t which are quite moist and bloody which should help.

Sound good FF - would not worry too much but if she will take a reasonable amount of fluids it helps ease the pain experienced when passing water it also helps flush the tubing.
