- By lesleyspringers [nl] Date 13.12.12 20:28 UTC
We received a phone call just after 6pm from our vet to tell us Olli had passed away in his sleep :(

We are absolutely devastated and cannot believe our boy has gone.

The pain and the grief I have, I have never experienced before.

RIP Olli, we will never ever forget you and thank you for sharing nearly 5 wonderful year with us.

Dear, dear, dear, what a devastating week for some of our members, so very sorry, I know the grief you're feeling, most of us do... it's terrible.

Your vets have been so good and informative and it's a blessing he went in his sleep, but we're never prepared for this moment.

My heart goes out to you, RIP Olli, we all feel the hole in your heart. xx

I am crying to hear your news.  Life can be so unfair, and your grief must be unbelievable.  First Rhodach, now you.  It's not that many weeks since everyone supported me through Gemma's seizures.

I am genuinely so very, very sorry.  Run free Olli.

Thank you everyone

I never through I had so much tears, that little boy has stamped his paw prints all over my heart and now he has gone, I think the biggest part of my heart has went with him.

As an adult this is my first dog I have lost :(  Ive never really knew the grief that I would experience when that time came.

What hurts the most is I lost him to some horrible disease (Epilepsy)  not old age, he was only 4 years and 9 months.

I really have never felt so devastated :(

Even though we have two other dogs, the house is empty without him :(

Thank you again everyone for your kind thoughts x

So very sorry to hear that you have lost Olli.

It always hurt to lose one of our family, but to lose them young and also to lose your first dog is just devastating. You know all of our thoughts are with you.

Very sorry to hear about your dear boy. RIP.
It might help, when you feel able, to have a chat with your vet as you probably have some unanswered questions.
If it was IE you could've done no more, at least he is out of pain now.
- By Treacle [gb] Date 14.12.12 09:14 UTC
So sorry to hear that bad news. It,s a terrible time for you. Hugs . Jane XX

So incredibly sorry to read this. You're right -it's hard to lose a dog at any age, but it seems so unfair after such a short life.

Thank you,

I truly know now how a broken heart feels.

I feel so guilty, I keep wondering if I could have done something else to save him, if we had got him to the vets quicker, if he had been given other medication, if if if

I am crying my eyes out one minute then the rest the rage and anger takes over, the breeder never getting back to me, when I informed her of my boys condition, why him out of all of them, and I know this is terrible but I look at my old lab and think, it should have been you, I know that is so bad and I really really dont mean it.  It just hurts so much :(

I lost my Granddad 3 months ago suddenly and now my precious boy has gone too :(

How do you get over the loss of losing you best friend????    I miss him so much :(
- By woodsford [gb] Date 14.12.12 10:31 UTC
I do know how you feel, I lost my 12 1/2 year old Gsd in october had her from a puppy and the feeling is still so raw and then suddenly in november  my dear old dad died, i have had some really bad days but i look at my 2 other dogs and smile and think what a wonderful life I have with them. I just miss my dad ringing 3-4 times a day. bless him. so sorry for your loss x

Your poor boy!

He is at peace now and he truly went because his time had come.  Up until yesterday I had been watching your progress but had little to add.  I truly was rooting for him and you to avoid this outcome but at least you were spared the decision.

My heart goes out to you, no matter when they go it is always too soon.  I really believe that love comes into our lives for a reason and no matter how long or short it is with us it is something we must cherish and enjoy each day we are given.

Thinking of you all

Thank you ever so much for your kind words.

At this moment in time, I just see the way forward.
My first springer and he was such a special special boy.

I know he is at peace and not suffering and he new the time was right, it just doesn't make it any easier to swallow.
- By Dakkobear [gb] Date 14.12.12 11:26 UTC
I'm so sorry to hear you lost Olli, I have lost a dog unexpectedly at 4 years too and it was so much harder than losing our elderly dog. Remember that you did the best you possibly could for him.

Sleep tight Olli

Ah, so sorry. You are hurting right now and it's a sad and painful time for you. As time goes by you'll gradually start to feel better and though you'll never forget Olli, one day you will remember all the good times and smile again xx
- By Roxylola [gb] Date 14.12.12 11:47 UTC
It's hard right now.  Personally I just have to do one day at a time when confronted by such a monumental event.  I do think things happen for a reason though and some day when the time is right something will happen that you will know that is the reason Olli had to leave you.  No other dog will ever replace him but perhaps a pup or a dog who really needs your love and care will come to into your life that you simply could not have cared for and given the necessary time to without this awful event.  Or perhaps as a result of this a medical breakthrough may happen in the care of dogs suffering from seizures.  Something good will come, you may not know it at the time but when you look back you will understand that your boy had to leave you for this to occur.
