My oldie was so funny this morning, I wish I could post up a video of his behaviour.  He gets so excited about his walks and still bounces around like a pup when I grab my wellies but this morning he was definitely unimpressed with the icy puddles around the lakes and footpaths, he looked like one of those horses doing dressage, lifting his toes and prancing around the countryside.  Not sure he's going to be impressed if this weather continues!

How are your lot coping with this cold spell?

Coats on everyone if we are on leads, thin coat on the beagle if we are off lead - the others have more hair and fat to keep them warm.  They all love their walks in the frost though.  I think all the scents must really intesify in this weather as they are all noses to the ground.

Had to laugh last night as we did an on lead walk for the first time since it has been really cold (too dark to risk off leads) and I have coats for my two plus a couple of spares.  The springer never bothers either way, but the beagle's tail never stopped wagging while we were out.  She loves being warm and loves her walks, the two combined is christmas come early!  And my housemate's staffy x had to "borrow" a coat, she is taller, chunkier, longer etc than either of mine so I looked like I was walking the hulk in dog form!

Ooo I bet beagles love this weather.  Keep thinking I must get a warm sheepskin coat for the oldie now, particularly for the longer walks if its going to continue with this cold spell but went into our local pet superstore and couldnt find anything that was suitable.  Any suggestions anyone?

If you have face book have a look at blue monster dog wear.  She does more fleece than sheepskin but its a bit easier to wash, dry and doesn't hold water if it gets wet.

Mine aren't remotely bothered about the cold, apart from trying to persuade me that they don't really need to go and wee on that nasty wet grass! The only problem is that although they are all good on the lead individually, they do pull a bit as a group. I don't walk them far on lead, just to the bit where we can let them off, but it's a case of constantly shouting 'steady, steady' so they don't make me slip on the frosty pavement! :-D

Really shocked (but pleased) that my 7½ year old papillon is actually enjoying his first English winter and even paddled in the sea today!  Rather him than me.  Even the spiders´ webs were frozen.  Actually when we arrived back home he had frost on his ears and eyebrows but he didn´t seem at all bothered.  I am putting a coat on him though on the coldest or wettest days.
