I have been planning to mate my youngest dog. For various reasons the time wasn't right on her last 2 seasons. Now the time is right and so am waiting for her to start her season. She has been 6 monthly like clock work up to now but this time it has been 9 months so far and still no sign. I know there is nothing I can do but be patient but just felt the need to vent a little.!

Always the same isn't it! I have one who was dead regular on 7 months till the first litter, then regular on 8 months till the 2nd litter, then back to 7 months. Planned the shows we entered around that, and hey presto, we're back to 8 months again this time!

I'm waiting for one of mine to come in and she's coming close to 10 months....she's been 7 and 8 up to this time.

I've had a word but up to now it's not made any difference!

Last year I had a bitch go 16 months between seasons.

Sorry everyone, but my bitch that I want to mate has surprised me by coming in a couple of weeks early :) It means I shan't be trying to get her mated on Christmas Day - phew!

Oh I went through this recently, pain in the arse! Three months late she was! Oh well, she came in eventually and my puppy buyers have hung on, hoping she's taken, day 12 today.

I'm waiting for my girl to have her first season. She's 15 months..... Apparently, in our breed, they can go a lot longer before they start.

Just hope she doesn't start just before Crufts!

I realise she could have had a silent season, but it would have had to have been very, very silent as I've been watching closely since she was 6 months old....

I am also waiting for my bitch to come into season....8 months and counting !!
And I am going to Holland with her..so I can see it being right on Xmas !!

Mine is due in end of Dec but she is showing signs that she won't be hanging on that long and no doubt will come in for LKA, I won't show a bitch in season so will miss out..

I hope Aileen that you won't be traveling on Xmas day!! Some on Vino!!! X

I planned to mate my girl this year, her seasons usually arrive later November, which might have been more difficult to arrange a mating so near Christmas.  This year she decides to have a season mid October, I was scared I'd missed it, lucky I noticed her being a bit more hormonal!

Same here! Getting on for 10 weeks overdue. I asked the stud dog owner if she was doing a running buffet on Christmas Day as we might be there!
Talk about a watched pot never boils.

All this talk of Christmas has reminded me one of the reasons I didn't mate her last time was because of the difficulty getting blood tests done over the Easter bank 'Holidays. If she comes in the next week or two I will have the same problems. I am sure they do it deliberately to send us round the twist.

Well with my heart in my mouth...I think Vino has come into season...just a slight blood staining on a tissue tonight...so fingers crossed and a re-check tomorrow and it is all systems go !!

Yes !!!
- By newyork [gb] Date 04.12.12 08:15 UTC
Well done. Now what did you do to get her started? I Really want Trixie to start in the next day or two or leave it until after new year.
- By suejaw Date 04.12.12 09:12 UTC
Yay, finally!!! Good luck with it all Aileen x

This is getting silly now. The girl I don't want to mate has now started her season over a month early!!! Still absolutely no sign of my other girl starting her season.
- By LindyLou [gb] Date 08.12.12 09:22 UTC
She will wait for another few days, just so that you have to visit the stud dog on Christmas Day ;-)

Sorry to all those frustrated with waiting for their bitches to come into season, but I'm very excited to say that yesterday we had a good mating with my lovely bitch and a gorgeous boy who goes back to all my old breeding. They have the necessary health tests (plus others!) and the most wonderful temperaments and are stud book qualifed and I'm very excited :) :) :) I haven't bred a litter of my own since 2002!
She was good as gold and we're going back on Sunday.
Now I need to start thinking about finding a scanner in the SW. Any suggestions - I live near Exeter?
- By white lilly [gb] Date 08.12.12 14:14 UTC
well done we should have litters due same time then :)
- By Charlie Brown [gb] Date 08.12.12 17:25 UTC
There must be something in the air.....mine came in today after 10 months.

To say I'm pleased is an understatement :-) :-) :-)
- By Romside [gb] Date 09.12.12 10:59 UTC
well thats just dandy isnt it!! im still waiting but id rather her go til past xmas now im just too busy...too much going on in this house at the mo
- By newyork [gb] Date 09.12.12 16:14 UTC
that's exactly how I feel. One in season bitch over christmas is enough. AndIt will be too cxomplicated to do progesterone testing around the bank holidays. Lets hope she can wait another couple of weeks.
- By newyork [gb] Date 19.12.12 19:58 UTC
YAHOO!!!!! Finally 3 1/2 months late we have a season. Unfortunately I have not been checking her for the last few days being so busy at work so not quite sure if today is the first day. I will be doing progesterone tests anyway. Desperately hoping I can get the bloods taken and posted between the various bank holidays. I am SO excited!!!
