No idea!! But they all do, and eventually they grow out of it. I love to see them having so much fun, just like kids let out at playtime!

Sorry Jeangenie but my dog never grew out of it, right up until he died of MVD, glad that didn't stop him like it does with some dogs! He really enjoyed it!

I must admit my last "old girl" still had her moments at the age of 15! It just got shorter and slower.

As I write, the others (aged 10, 8 and 3) are having their "post-prandial" gallop round the house! :)

Our 10 year old pointer still has those mad moments.

Yes I think they grow out of it when they dies, as my 11 year old still has the,

Most often in my house they have these mad/playful seesssions some time in the evening, and in the morning.

Hi
Oliver (7 years old) has many a 'mad half hour':)
But this week during his manic activity with Marley, he has sprained his elbow:(
He is now confined to bed with no walks for a week at least:(

Vickie & Oliver (poor old boy) & Marley ( the fed up demon, due to not having his playmate) :D

Hope Oliver is soon back to his normal self Vickie, I used to go to this farm place to get fresh laid eggs, there were these two dogs at the farm, one a big Lab the other a little breed( forgotten which one but quite small) the little one developed a limp when anybody called for eggs..it wasn't hurt though.. it was the only way it could get any attention lol.Give Oliver a hug :) Oscar too has these mad moments, I just wonder if it's to keep us on our toes !!

The mad half hour it starts by one running in to front room and 2 others follow cushions of sofa end up on floor kids teddys being thrown all over dogs up and down stairs fetching new suplies as i take them off them when they finally quiten down thats it for a few hours and it all starts again the kids will learn to shut the bed room door and im buying deck chairs so the dogs cant steal the cushions

Thats it exactly Gwen
he tears up and down for what seems ages and then flops into his little bed and tries to dig for England !! :)
At least we know we are in for some peace and quiet though because he just wears himself out poor love :)

Funny little dog. Reminded me of a friend's dog who had surgery on his left hind leg. Everyone made a fuss of him afterwards. Long after he recovered he would ocassionaly fake a limp to get attention. Funny thing was though that eventually he forget which leg had been injured and he would switch from limping on one to limping on the other the next time.

My 10 week old Munster has a mad hour every evening!! It starts when he runs into the lounge and launches himself at the beanbag and goes head over heels (almost think he's going to break his neck) also he digs furiously on his beanbag and eventually collapses in a heap and sleeps for an hour!! :)

What breed dog have you got?

If you have a Labrador it is likely that your dog will never totally grow out of these mad sessions. Most Labradors have a tendancy for Butt-Tucking, where they run around with their bums tucked down, and their tail tucked between their legs! It is hilarious to see and My Lab who is 3 still has these crazy Butt-Tucking sessions at least 2 times a day!
