What about a blood test to check? Or, as you say the stud isn't far away then just pop her along and see (if the stud is experienced enough?)

If you're going to someone with an experienced stud dog, they should know if your bitch is ready. I don't have much success with bitches with large vulvas. Over the years I've learned that they go down in size considerably before they're actually ripe.

My largest litter has been from a bitch who hardly swelled when in season, but with most they are not ready for mating until the swelling has gone down and the perineal area completely softened.
yes thats right omg ive forgotten so much it feels like years ago :( she a very clean girl so theres not much blood at all only when shes been asleep and she gets up so i cant go by that as one breeder was telling me to watch and when her blood starts to slow down shes ready ...i thought that idea was long out the window?? thats guys i think im just panicking lol we are going on sunday to see how she goes as ive been told this breed tend to breed early so we will see!!.
hi dover the stud lives only 30mins so thats realy good for us so i can just keep going to be fair but he hasnt sired alot 3 litters i think but the owner knows what shes talking about iv choosen him cus of their pedigrees are made for each other and so lucky hes not far :) so fingers crossed now xx
