Anybody tried this product to make it easier for the bitch to whelp? I will be having my girl scanned next week and the company that will be doing the scan sell this Help To Whelp
If anyone has any information about the product i would be grateful i dont want to give her anything that isnt healthy.I have read about Raspberry leaves some say its good and some say it can make the puppies abort so wont be risking it
My girl is a maiden bitch and would i like to make it easier for if it at all possible
Thanks

I had a chat with Keith when he came to scan my girl and he said that they'd had quite a few good reports regarding it.  I didn't order any but may do the next time I have a litter.  Would be interested to hear if anyone has used it and their reports.

Personally I'd be reluctant to 'tinker' with giving anything, whether Help to Whelp, raspberry leaves, etc. The best way you can make things as easy as possible for her is to look after her during her pregnancy, with good quality foods, keep her calm and relaxed nearer the time, ensure you have her whelping area set up in good time and she's comfortable in that area, have everything that you think you'll need ready in plenty of time, plus having the things that you hope you wont need :-O Having a plan of action for when she whelps - where will other dogs/household members be? Having a plan of action laid out should you need veterinary help. Anything really that helps you feel completely ready for the whelping will all make it easier for her.

If there's a known whelping problem with your breed/line, then I'd be talking to your vet now.

Exciting times ahead :-)

I have bred a lot of pups over the years and never use a thing.  I would agree with Trialist on this one.

I used it once (help2whelp, not raspberry leaf) and my bitch developed secondary inertia, she whelped two pups herself then three were delivered via c-section.  Supplementing with calcium can inhibit the bitch from making enough of her own to sustain contractions. Obviously, I have no idea if anything would have been different if we hadn't used it, but from now on I won't interfere.
