8 month ago I rehomed an adult maltese. The bathing and grooming has been a huge learning curve as I've always had labs. My question is, how do the professionals keep their maltese faces soooo clean? I wipe his face with a wet cloth after he has eaten but its still stained. Any tips would be appreciated.

The Bichon Frise Club of GB have a tear stain remover, I'm sure if look on their website you'll be able to get in touch with them and order a pot.

I've had good results with Angels Eyes, but it comes from America and isn't cheap! I got it on Ebay from mydoggiescloset.com.

Hmm, interesting - pity it's not licensed as it certainly helped Hetty's staining. Sounds like it's definitely a yeast problem then, I shall have to try some of these other new products being suggested. Thanks!

I've heard a lot mention corn starch. When I went on holiday this year to Scotland we took 8 dogs and the houses water supply was from a stream and I must say after a week the staining on the few with weepy eyes was looking a fair bit better.

I have found that using filtered water makes a real difference to my OES's beards. It took a few weeks to make a difference and if we go back to normal tap water the staining comes back quite rapidly. Cornstarch is also brilliant for drying wet areas which can reduce the appearance of staining.
