What are your favourite Xmas adverts?
I have to say I love love love the Coca Cola ad...
This year I'm quite partial to the John Lewis one :-))
Off the top of my head I can't recall many historical ones but I'm sure there will be a plenty as people post on here!!

I avoid adverts by watching all TV online

Fair enough, lol....
I'm not a Xmas lover but something has happened to me this year and feeling rather soppy by it all :-/
me too, suejaw,i cant be bothered with it most years, apart from buying presents, but i actually want to buy tree and trimmings this year-kind of got to,mind, the kits destroyed last years tree.Bit of a shame,as first year for 4 years that ive no small kittens or pups to cause mischief!

Crimboitis must be catching, I'm feeling a tad festive myself, possibly because I've already finished my Christmas shopping ( smug grin ). I've even been contemplating a tree as we're down to just one dog there's not much chance of the tree ending up horizontal on the floor.
The John Lewis ad is my fav so far this year, much better than last years one with the poor dog left out in the snow.
Oddest one has to be Halfords ad, accompanied to the tune of the punk classic, Into the Valley.....what the..........?

Favourite adds are the grouse, & one from many many years ago, where a tangerine under the spot light on stage, stripped its' skin to 'Hey big Spender' by Shirley Bassey.

LOVE the John Lewis 'Power of love' advert!
Does anyone know who the female vocal belongs to? It's hauntingly wonderful.
I must confess The coca-cola truck is my que to go all Christmassy... But.... Begrudgingly, as it's annoyingly American - 'Holidays are coming...' (Furrows brow)
But for a good old fashioned British Christmas it's the Famous Grouse that gets the No1 spot for me.
Not until I hear the very fabulous Shane McGowan and Kirsty McColl singing fairy tale of New York in a shop do I feel truly 'Christmassy'!!!!!!!

The FG ad clearly has that much of an impact on me that I have no idea what you are talking about

Fairytale of NY is a fab song, it does make me laugh in that what in earth does it have to do with Xmas other than it was released at Xmas... As long as you don't associate Mr Blobby with Xmas ;-)

Apart from the first line saying it was Christmas Eve, him wishing her a happy Christmas, and the last line of the chorus about the bells ringing out for Christmas Day ... ;-)

It think the point was that midnight came so the bells rang out.
My favourite advert is one off You Tube and it isn't for Christmas but it uses a Christmas song.
It's the Staples advert for going back to school with the song It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year.
The glee on the fathers face as he tosses school stuff into the trolley makes me laugh every time.
Roll on Christmas - I'm lovin' it !!!
oh yes,the budweiser ads were my favourites! the ones i cant stand are the obscure ones where you have to guess at what theyre advertising-usually a car,or phone!
oh yes,i love fairy tale of new york!
"theyre going back!"!!i agree,ST Domingo, that always made me laugh as well!

I don't want to read it in case they tell me it was not a real snowman :)

I love the John Lewis one .... and the Liverpool One quite like the santa.. ha ha... but my fav which is a bit silly is the argos add with the alien family with normal voices.. makes me laugh!

Have to admit I like the Argos Aliens too.

Me too Brainless - although deep down I think I should hate it!

Best one was the Toy Exchange... Reminded me of the Cadbury's Smash advert all those years ago.

Now I remember the smash aliens, and the Humphrey's straws that drank Unigate milk, and the secret R whites Lemonade drinker.
> the secret R whites Lemonade drinker
Sung by Elvis Costello's dad! RIP Ross MacManus who died nearly one yr ago

It is good but Holly Johnson makes my heart pause when he sings the original.
Check it out - track 15 - on Welcome to The Pleasuredome by Frankie Goes to Hollywood

I have to agree that the FGTH version of that song is much much better..
Loving the John Lewis ad, and anything else I can get my hands on that is a 'Brit' ad... Aussie ads for Christmas just aren't the same I'm afraid! Poor by comparison.

Explains the landscape in some of the scenes of the ad!
