It's too bad isn't it?  It was a nice venue.  Glad you've been able to find somewhere else.
- By Spout Date 17.10.12 07:54 UTC
Thank you Vanhalla.

We had a couple of venues in mind.  The Wags venue is a new venture for the owner.  I hope he enjoys the day spent with us at the show. He is a nice person to do business with. I hope it will continue for him.  The venue is a dog day care centre. He opened for business about 15 months ago and is doing well.

As always teething problems will arise as a new venture for shows, but hopefully people will understand.

Thank you for replying

Oh and did you say the Hyde one was also at the Worsley venue Jane?

I did not mention in my post but I do believe it will be held at Wags.

Anyone running a show ensure that you fully cover the rings with rubber mattings where you need dogs to move.  My mum had a really, really bad fall just walking her dog.  I slipped whilst  moving Calida and the man behind slipped badly too at the same spot where there was no matting.  Utterly freezing too.  Many people left before showing sadly.

But well done all committee members who have had to find showgrounds at such a late time.

I just avoided falling over as we came to a stop in front of the judge. That would have been interesting. I know good venues are hard to come by but this was pretty poor all round :(

Yes such a shame really.  We gundog people must enjoy nearly falling in front of the judge then :)

Not looking forward to Goyt Valley Gundogs so much now :(

No the same here. I was talking some of my puppy owners into going as I like the show but now thinking of not going.

I am acting secretary of Goyt Valley Gundog. I went to the venue on Sunday to view.  I found that the mats were OK-however we do have more mats that will be more secure.

We have a floor issue with the T.A. Centre as it is a drill hall and quite slippy. We do secure the mats we have, but there is the odd time that they move. Even at Mypetstop the floor, although non slip was 100% . I have seen a a few that have slipped.

The rings will be bigger than Hyde had as we would lay it out in a different way. I know it was cold inside the venue. If there is a chance the owner could put some heat on that would be ideal. I will ask him to see what he has to say.

This venue is for our Dec show only. Our March show will be at the T.A. Centre, Stockport SK3 8AB. BIS judge Eddie Webster (Benjcroft)

I hope it will not put you off. Hard to keep societies going in this day and age and hopefully we will continue to keep Goyt Valley going. Please keep coming as we need you. Without you we would not have a show. We are grateful that you rally round .  Thankyou.

Hello Spout :-), nice to meet you! We spoke on the day there and I am the person who took away a box of catalogues for the show. I think my main concerns (apart from the lack of heating which hopefully will be rectified) were the unsecured mats, one of which looked worn and very ruffled at the edges, and the difficulty in accessing the rings or the exit, for that matter. If areas can be clearly marked for crates that would help--it was really difficult at midday picking our way across the hall.

We enjoy the gundog shows most of all so it would take an awful lot to keep us away. We stayed to the end at Hyde to see BPIS but 7 hours in that venue under those conditions is not something I'd honestly want my dogs to experience again.

Hi Jay. I have some news to take back to the committee-your findings are a good source for Goyt to work on and hopefully will be rectified for the show in Dec.

I agree with you it was cold and how brave of you to stick it out.

When the chairperson and I were there we said the same about the crate section being in a marked off area.

I realize it was hard for Hyde being the first show there.  I think they did there best under the circumstances.

Lets hope it can all be sorted and then it may be used for another show at some point.

Look forward to seeing you at the show.

Thank you for taking out the schedules.

I will be a Gundog owner on the 1st Dec-picking up my Spinone puppy.

LOL Spout--not brave at all, just in spite of everything glad to be at a show and be able to stay long enough to enjoy seeing BIS and BPIS:-) we have really missed them over the months while waiting for the puppy to grow up enough to come along.

I realise Hyde committee had the devil's own job from hell to make the show a success--best of luck to them for the future, hopefully the next show will be a bit warmer :-)

And looking forward to seeing your baby spin! How exciting for you.
