Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Dog Show Cage Trolley

I think the time has come to spare my back any further distress, and it would be nice to turn up in the ring with clean dogs. So I am looking at buying a cage trolley--not one of those that has built on compartments and costs the earth, but something robust with an articulated front axle (and if it turns into a grooming table as well, marvellous).

I've had a look online but I am looking for feedback from CDers who have tried them out--love 'em or hate 'em, please drop me a line!

And just to finish off, I have seen what looks to be the bargain of the year from Dog Health at £69.99! If anyone has actually bought one of these and can spare a minute or two to say what they think of it, I'd be very grateful!!!!
I've almost got to the point where I feel like ordering one on spec, just in case it is any use. The item in question can be seen at:

Thanks everyone :-)

I've got one of these [/url]http://www.croftonline.co.uk/scp/Trolleys_Tables_and_Tops/products.asp?partno=LWT1  and it is very easy to pull, even on longish grass and fully loaded. I have to admit my dogs walk in so its only equipment loaded on it (large grooming table, chairs, picnic, grooming bag, clothes etc) but I can't praise it's simple sturdiness enough.

Thanks Clumberjack, I like the handle better than the usual T shape and the folding wheels seem a great idea, but it seems very heavy at 25.5kg...

It is a bit heavy but as I only lift it in and out of the car and then wheel it anywhere else it doesn't bother me-and i dont notice the weight unless its a steep hill. The looped handle is really comfy to pull. I ummed and ahhed for ages about whether to get a trolley table but I'm glad I decided to go with a plain trolley that did one job really well,as its solidity means I can carry two large grooming tables plus all my other stuff with ease. I am sure there are similar ones from a range of companies if I could only remember them....!

I bought one of these and it is very heavy and very annoying, the wheels are supposed to fold but they don't lock into place and it vibrates something rotten on the move and everyone cam hear you coming.  I only used it twice and they shoved it in shed, a friend also bought one and she only used hers once and then tried to sell it, unsurprisingly no one wanted it.

Ps if that does not put you off I know where there is two for sale :-p

Lol! True it does rattle something chronic on hard surfaces but I must have got used to it as I had forgotten until you said!!

I think the weight will put me off, Boody, I don't have a helper monkey and with four dogs I'm trying to keep any extra stress off my back right now. Sad, I know.

It is very heavy and that's with me and my daughter loading up.

My trolley is horribly noisy, it hasn't got pneumatic wheels so it does make a racket. Let me know if you get that lighter one, it looks very tempting!

I rang up Dog Health today to ask a few questions and subject to answering my last two questions (a to do with modifications--I'd like a brake on it similar to a pushchair, and would like to fit a grooming table top to it if I can--am I mad????) I think I will go ahead and order one tomorrow. They said it was a new item in stock, and that they'd sold a lot of them already, but I still don't know anyone who has one. I'll let you know how it works out Lucydogs :-)

Great, thanks. Those wheels just look so good compared to mine - my workmates made it for me 10 years ago and the solid wheels were loads cheaper, but it does make it noisy and it probably makes for a less comfortable ride! I do like the bellrope I tied on mine, more comfortable than a handle, but I could maybe take the handle off if I didn't like it. If yours turns out well I might put one on my Christmas list!

We put wheels and a handle onto an existing grooming table I had and was not using which works out well.

I can only compare the quality of dog health cage trolleys and say that the finish was very poor on the dog health compared to the dogshowcages! I cut my hand on bolts and edges a few times. BUT the price reflects that difference in finish!

Jaspersmum, can you give me a website to see the trolleys you recommend? I was also looking at the Mutney trolley--does anyone have any experience of this one please?

The dogshowcages are the "lioncages" as we call them, don't think they do table trolleys but here's the link http://www.dogshowtrolleys.com/

Just a comparison on quality between the two companies comparable products BUT huge difference in price too!

£550 without the extras....ouch! I think we will be going with the cheaper option unless I buy a winning Lottery ticket in the meantime :-)
