Has anybody come across leaking urine when a dog has been on tramadol ?

Puds my eldest has been on in for about five days now and it seems now she is leaking.

The pain and limping she was experiencing seems to be getting better but I noticed one was dripping yesterday and could suss out who it was. No indication on the walk that anybody was weeing more but they got up this morning and the one bed was sodden. Ruled out Bales the boy as he managed to get in
His own bed last night. I have looked Betty and Puds over and Puds seems to be the one that has a wet backside some putting it down to her but as Betty had a UTI a few months ago I still can't rule her out.

It has just clicked that Puds does seem to be drinking a bit more and just thought if the tramadol could be the cause. I know when I take it it gives me a very dry mouth so wondered if that be be causing her in take of water and hence why the leaking as she was very tired after a long leisurely stroll out yesterday.

My old girl Pepsi is on tramadol as well as prednisolone and carprogesic and they make her very thirsty, but no leaking at all. In fact it amazes me that she will drink loads and yet she can spend all day sleeping without needing a wee from about 9.30am till 5pm. She has her brekki and then dissapears to the office where she goes under the desk and sleeps eventually re-appearing to watch for her Dad coming home later. Then she will go out and pee again! She has never had any leaking. She is speyed as well.
I think she must have an amazing bladder !

Henry is on tramadol on and off for lameness I have not seen him dribble at any point. Hope this is helpful

Hi I believe tramadol can cause a uti,Annie was on 50mg caps however she was ok,hope you get her sorted soon.

It has been used in humans for urge incontinence, in effect slowing down the urge to pass urine, so what may be happening is she is not having the urge to go at bed time and, consequently is suffering an overflow from the bladder when the sphincter can no longer hold the increased pressure. 
Therefore, it may be worth escorting into the garden at bed time and insisting she goes before coming into bed and seeing if that improves matters or not.

my dog has been on Tramodol, as i have also, neither she nor me had any leaks.

Thanks Stooge looks likes wellies and coat on for last wee will have to be done but she is a hold on until she is bursting girl so doesn't weeing command so will have to try and train am old dog a new trick !

She has been off all meds since Tuesday and leaking quite badly so I think we need a trip to the vet. Added to that Dave the kitten is looking off colour and can't put any weight on his front right leg , had a look and the leg and paw seem swollen and he didn't like me touching it so looks like a double trip later :-(

We are a bit stumped at the moment.

Stuart our vet gave her a good look over and agree that if it was the a tramadol then as we stopped it on Tuesday then any side effects would have stopped . We decided to get blood tests to see if there were any signs of kidney or liver issues but all came back fine ( no results on the upper limit of ok )

So we are going to see if things settle down over the weekend then back on Monday if things don't improve.

We had to get the waiting floor mopped as she leaked so much.

She is still drinking a lot and leaking so not sure what to think.

Anybody got and ideas what it could be ??

Dave the kitten is ok, puncture wound which was quite infected so AB and anti inflammatory injection. He nearly bit Staurt so it must have really being hurting him poor lad !

Oh well another £180 towards Stuarts retirement fund !

That seems unusually excessive; even the dogs we have on longterm meds for incontinence have been dry in the waiting room and consult room, so certainly something odd's going on.

Has her urine been checked for cystitis?

My last dog got cystitis, he was leaving puddles of wee all over the house, but as his puddles were red (looked like neat Ribena), he was taken to the vets imediately. He was treated for cystitis (ABs) without any tests - and I was told if there was no improvement within 24 hours he'd have to go back in for more tests.

Cystitis doesn't always show blood in the urine and any associated pain can be mild rather than harsh, it's something I've suffered with far too much myself for my liking and have found, through personal experience ,that it doesn't always follow the same set of symptoms. Lots of wee and leaking wee can be a symptom instead of inability to pass wee, so is increased thirst.

No not yet as she isn't showing any signs of excessive attempts st weeing or and signs of discomfort.

Today she doesn't seem to be leaking and the bed was dry over night so looks like things maybe sorting itself out.

I wonder of the effects of the tramadol took a few days to get out of her system.

She will be back at the vets tomorrow as her bed is sodden again and the bowl of water completely empty and she was head in it straight away after it was filled again.

I hadissed an email from my vet and he wants to have her in for a few hours to do some more tests including looking a cushings so it looks like he is going to look a all areas to try and get to the bottom if it.
