I took my pomx chi too the vets last night as for the last few days she has seemed somehow odd. Very thethagic refusing to do anything but sleep. Poo and wee anywhere she is including the other dogs bed ! And has been sick overnight at least 3 times. She is eating fine vet diagnosed n infection after finding she has a temp of 39.5 so we have antibiotics for a few days. After this would you expect everyhing back to norml? I don't want to appear to protective of her and rush back but don't want to neglect either. Oh and she has lost .5lkg now weighing 3kg although I had noticed weight loss wasn't sure over what period I only really noticed it in the last week or two

If you have any doubts or a worried atall - even just a tiny weeny bit worried - don't feel like your being over protective by taking her back to the vet. It's far better that you take her in and the vet says she's fine, rather than leave her home and shes poorly without you realising it.

However, it's amazing the difference a course of antibiotics can make :)

I hope she is feeling back to her usual self soon.

I would get her back and get blood tests done as I would have expected an improvement by now.

Lets us know how you get on .

Sorry ignore me as just reread your post wait for at least 24 to 48 hours to see if the AB's start to work but if you are still worried take her back.

thank you will give it a few days and see how she goes if she is not her usuall bouncy self will have her back. he did say something about bloods if she isnt better. She wasnt sick last night which is good but is sleeping in my bedroom on a pile of washing due to go in the wash. Now I will have to leave it as I feel to rotten disturbing her :) btw she isnt deprived of a bed just prefers our dirty washing lol

I don't think you're being over protective.  I have big dogs and tinies too.  But I am always very aware of the smaller dogs being hit by hypoglycemia if off their food.  You can't afford to take that chance.  Although I'm certain that you would be alert to any warning signs as you're used to knowing what is the norm for your little 'un.  Hope the AB's are kicking in by now.  I think I would expect a small improvement by 3-4 days personally, but you know your own dog best.  Good Luck!  :-)

Thanks Jean yes I agree 3 - 4 days I would expect an improvement. She is stll eating the only normal thing she is doing bit worried about  not drinking much. vet didnt think she was dehydrated and as she very helpful and did poo and wee in the waiting room (not at all normal) I took advantage and asked for a couple of test tubes so we had ready samples for him to test  there and then lol Certainly one surprised vet when I walked in with that lot without being asked.
Now i am reassured I will be back next week if she isnt her usual self.

I am giving Mia until Monday and if she doesnt perk up by then we will back to vet.So far no change except she has just come upstairs to lay beside me which is the first time she has got out of bed without being carried out for 3 days.
