Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me. In March last year i took out 3 pet insurance policies with John Lewis. In August this year i found out i was mis sold as i was going to take out a fourth policy. I was initially told the level of cover which is 10k would cover complimentary therapies. It does but only 1k of it does not the full amount that i was told. It has taken from the 16th of August until today for them to find the phone call and agree that although they dont think it was mis sold it could be mis interpreted the way he said it. He asked me what i wanted to do? I don't know to be honest, what should i expect? I don't currently need to claim for complimentary therapy but it may be an option soon if the meds don't help. I told him he was the customer service team so he should be looking to remedy it not ask what i want. He has grudgingly said it may have been a mistake but what am i entitled to?

Can't offer any suggestions on what you are entitled to but I can't think of any company that offers the full amount of cover for complimentary therapies.
my policy is with AXA for £7k per year lifetime and they have £250 per condition for complimentary, I think most others are similar.

Formal complaint is your first step with these sort of things then they should advise on the procedure from there - it is a procedure that will be laid out by the fsa and will tell you what happens next

A lot will depend on whether the policy is worded clearly, if it is then you should have known if not then you may have a claim. Although you may have been mislead by the salesperson when you bought it that will just be between them and you and it can be claimed that you must have misunderstood. Even if you have talked to those selling the policy always read it when you get it as you can return it and reclaim you money if it is not what you want.

All most anything can be insured at a price but you will be hard pushed to find a ready made pet insurance that will pay out the full amount for complimentary therapies, and you also need to know what they consider complimentary and what they would consider a vet recommended additional treatment - like swimming.

..just to make the point it's complementary therapies, not complimentary !

don't really think that makes a difference to the points being made.

Another thing to consider that I think when they sell a new policy they state you must read the terms and conditions including policy cover before agreeing to the policy so it may well be difficult to prove it mis sold. That will have been sent out with the new policy and also it will all be online so agreeing to the policy could be deemed as accepting it.

...as the two words have different meanings I thought it was worth mentioning.  Sorry you obviously don't agree.
