Hiya, I'm looking for a certain breed of dog and I am doing my research thoroughly.
As a breeder what do you include in the price of the puppy? Eg microchip, vacinations, sample food etc.
I'd appreciate your help.
Thanks

it depends.... with the pups I sell they usually go at 8 weeks, so no vacinations but probably now microchip....
my puppy packs include about 3k food, toy, carrot/apple, pedigree sheets, care/feeding sheets.... mind I bought a pup and fair enough she was microchipped and had first vaccination (which I'd rather not have - both or nothing, although this one didn't cause a problem), it included a diet sheet I threw away as old fashioned and not something I would follow, one tiny tray of food and the smallest ball I've ever seen - which I threw away as it would choke my other dogs if they got hold of it... and she was very expensive, plus I drove 600 miles to pick her up :-)

I've bought from the top breeder of one breed, and received one handful of dry food. Plus nothing! Well, her pedigree, but no typed instructions or exact worming dates.
So yes, it depends. I am not buying a puppy pack, I'm buying the lines I want,, so had to have whatever was on offer.
I really don't think the OP should make a decision based on what comes with puppy. If you are researching that well, you more or less take what is given, just to get the lines you want.
I really don't think the OP should make a decision based on what comes with puppy.I agree. I once got everything but the kitchen sink with a pup -you name it, he came with it. Toys, food, bowls, collar and lead, brush and comb, a million printouts, leaflets, photos, etc etc. With another pup I got nothing at all bar the paperwork. The first breeder turned out not to be a very nice person at all who I no longer have any contact with, the dog is nice enough but hasn't always been very healthy (in fact had major problems for years), certainly could never be shown etc (he was bought for showing). The second one is there for me whenever I need advice, even 12 years down the line, the dog has been very healthy and is a champion -despite being sold as a pet not intended for showing!

I agree with Jean.
Ive seen several 'pet producers' write that they give, bowl, collar, lead, food, toys, books, 'vet checked certificate', bit of mothers blanket, a spray of Frontline... etc etc.
I give a great deal of information including...health certificates by consultant specialists for both parents of the puppy and often all grandparents.
I give DNA results for parents and grandparents if required.
I also give lifetime support and advice and send news of the pups mother and grandmothers continuing health status.
Obviously pups vaccinated and microchipped and only I only breed from bitches which have their stud book number at the very least.
Detailed grooming, feeding and excerise handouts I add because the Kennel Club want me to... I see no need for much of this as Im always on the end of the phone.
I give exactly the same food as the pups is eating in my house, enough for a month at least.
I've bought puppies with photos, health cents, blanket, food, reg papers etc but from a top breeder a puppy that only had reg papers and food tokens.
I wasn't too concerned what I had with them because it was the puppy from those breeders I wanted.
Although when I sell pups I give enough food for a couple of days, paperwork as required for a KC Assured breeder ( reg papers, health certs and paperwork on breed, food, worming etc.), a blanket smelling of mum and siblings, a puppy pack from the food supplier plus 4 wks free insurance.
I don't do vaccination or microchip because at 8 wks they are barely old enough.
I give the following;
KC paperwork in ABS wallet (inc. pedigree)
Puppy manual (written by me, includes grooming, breed traits, puppy's first night, worming records, etc.)
Contract copy
Eye test certificate copies (parents and puppies)
Socialisation CD of sounds (fireworks etc.)
2kg of puppy food they've been eating
Scent blanket and cuddly toy from the pen
Few toys
Microchip keyring and details of their petlog
Can't think what else, I put all the little bits in a plain tote bag which I then write the puppy's name on so I know who's is who's. This year I have Kong puppy packs too and am thinking of adding some Earthbath shampoo samples just so that they have a first port of call should puppy get home and get immediately filthy (unlikely I know!). I don't add too many toys, bowls, leads etc. because I had so much fun with that when I was having a puppy from someone else, it's part of the 'nesting period' before you welcome puppy home and I do think the new owners prefer to do it.
With my own dogs I received just paper work and food, and a scent blankie.

For me all. I want is my well bbred puppy and their pedigree paperwork. Anything else is just a fun bonue. I ask loads of questions and take notes especially regarding food . Specifcally don't want my young pup vaccinated and would have discussed that as I would rather go to my own vet. Microochipping I am happy to do myself. Any other goodies is a fun bonus but not expect. I guess what I am saying is cost of pupp is for pup not extras except correct paperwork

What you should be getting is a well bred puppy with the required care taken over ti's breeding (health tested parents, of suitable temperaments and breed type).
Apart from registration papers, feeding and worming advice, and Insurance the rest is irrelevant when choosing a breeder or puppy.
It is nice to have little extras, and as a breeder I do like to send them away with several weeks worth of food, some vet bed, collar and lead that last to adulthood, food bowl, toys etc, but these are just personal to me and no indication of the quality of the puppy being bought.
I won't send a part vaccinated puppy away from here so they go before they are vaccinated (under 10 weeks) or if staying longer than that they stay until the full course has been completed.
