Topic Dog Boards / Health / Experience of Soloxine?
- By Lacy Date 21.10.12 20:00 UTC
Has anyone experience of Soloxine for Hypothyroidism, Lucas has been prescribed .2mg. Know I tend to be over concerned but for the last few evenings suddenly has a heavy sneezing session, licking his nose & then when it stops his nose runs & runs for sometime? Thank you.

I've used it in 3 dogs over the last 4 years, never seen that as a side effect though!  I'd check with the vet just in case.

However - Remy has had a snotty nose for a little while lately (he's been off soloxine for 10 months now so definitely not connected), seemed to be something he picked up and it's stopped with ABs.  Much like Lucas, there was a snottering session (not sneezing but he seemed to be trying to blow his nose clear) then licking his nose a lot.  Maybe something going round?  I know KC up here has been really rampant of late.

Not just your area Nikita.  Several weeks back now, but a couple of mine went down with it, then another couple, then another.  I went to see the vet (only took one dog) and they told me that it was really rife in this area too.

I ended up with it hitting all my lot, and I hadn't seen it since the early 90's!!

I ended up putting all mine on AB's.

Had a Rott on .8mg for about 3 ½ years and don't remember anything like that at all.
Sneezing and runny nose sounds like the people bug that half the local population either had, has or is going down with inc OH then me. :-D

I noticed my pup had a runny nose the other day, no sneezing but it was running clear out of both nostrils.

When I came back into the room later OH was wiping her nose with a tissue!

Both of us have had the flu type virus going around, wonder if she has a touch of it?

I'd agree with the others re possibility of KC or other virus,
I had a dog on soloxine for 9 years and never had that problem
Their doseage tweaked and was .65mg twice daily for the last few years.

Thank you all for the replies, don't think it is KC, only happens once during the evening. Initially thought new medication, side effects, but forget every year they don't react very well to the central heating coming on with the dry atmosphere it creates. Will monitor & keep a diary, for our next visit to their vets, going through a period where I joke that we should all move in! Good to read that no replies of side effects.
