Topic Dog Boards / General / Halti Training - What Is It ?
- By SarahP [gb] Date 26.01.03 18:32 UTC
Hello,

Can anyone please explain to me what a Holti is exactly and should this be used to correct problems or to train a puppy ?

Thanks,
Sarah.

A Halti is a headcollar affair that helps to train a dog to stop pulling on the lead. With some dogs they work brilliantly, and others simply won't co-operate. It works by making the dog's head turn back towards you when it pulls forward. I don't think it would work with most puppies - they are far too small.

Hi Sarah

It's a bit like a horse's headcollar. If you have a new pup then start as you mean to go on by never letting it pull or walking in front of you then, with luck and lots of persistence, you may never require one :)
