does anyone know if it is possible to fetch a bitch into season? one of my bitches hasnt been in season for 14 months now, her last season was a very normal season at 15 months of age, i have had her to my vet today but he hasnt got a clue and is going to talk with another vet on monday. just wondering if anyone else has ever had this problem and what the outcome was?

I've recently had a bitch go 16 months between seasons, and I've had her spayed.  She never did get pregnant, and I always wondered if she had hormonal problems, however, at 4 years old she is too old for a first litter now, so I have decided to call it a day.

Only if I've entered a show I particularly want to go to I'm afraid! :-D

That said just because you can doesn't always mean you should ... If bitch is sub fertile you have to ask if the line is worth the effort JMHO

Does she have much contact with intact bitches? They usually trigger each other off here.

I wouldn't be giving injections for fear of messing things up even more and just let nature take its course. Could she have had a silent heat that you were unaware of?

Hi, I have just seen this.
I have a bitch who went 18 months between seasons, but 12 months after her last season she swelled up but no blood so we thought silent season.... oh no none of the boys were remotely interested in her.
My Vets did thyroid tests and had no idea what was wrong as they came back normal ... he said maybe she is infertile... (she has previously had a litter march 2011)
So i went to speak to Dorwest she said to give her evening primrose oil tablets, 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening for a (12kg bitch) and within a week she was in season...she is now sucessfully in whelp.

Also I have tried these on a larger (22kg bitch different breed) as she was due in season this month.. she had 3 in the morning 3 in the evening and within 3 days she was in season!! could be a fluke but wont go without them now!!

Well I am waiting on Inka to come in season, but I want her to wait a week so we can get SWKA out of the way on Saturday.

She has in the past gone anything from 6 to 8 months, started with three seasons 7 months apart.  The I planned to mate her and she came in after 6 months, following the litter 7 months, but last time was 8 months, she has now gone just over 7 months, so expect her anytime soon.

Makes planning shows difficult.  I kept her out in January, for her to not come in, then entered shows and she came in.

Well after the shock of the vet visit she has now fetched herself into season lol bitches are strange things, took something as simple as talking tests to fetch her in, she has been around in season bitches an intact males for the past 14 months :)

Well that is sorted,must have been on the verge anyway and her hormones getting to the right levels.
