Very recently I've noticed that the sound on TV news programmes, continuity announcements etc, is really poor - buzzing, muffled, basically appalling.

It seems to be studio stuff, Programmes like Emmerdale, Corrie, Films and Adverts etc is fine though.

I've tried altering the sound via the TV set up, but nothing seems to work, it just messes the sound on films, etc.

Picture is great as always, apart from the occasional breakup, which is usually quite entertaining as it happens at appropriate times.

Has anyone else had the same problem?

We're in South Wales

We find sound levels appalling, so up and down sometimes so down it can't be heard at all, we are beginning to doubt that they employ sound engineers any more think they must just ask anyone who is passing to tweak the pot up or down a bit.

That's interesting Nova, at first we thought that the speakers were shot    as it was a buzzing rattling sound, but then Emmerdale started and the sound was fine again!

It would be mad if the speakers were damaged as the sound has never been turned up more than half way, and that just for dvds that always seem to be quiet.   We don't watch noisy stuff, usually we end up turning the sound off when the adverts come on.

Seriously, it's really odd, as 'proper' programmes are ok, just not the studio stuff ???

My winge at the moment is lots of the adverts seem to be about twice the volume that the actual programme is at!!!

Drives me mad, as OH is hard of hearing so tends to turn the program up to hear it, then the adverts come on and even he finds it too much!

I have tinnitus, so loud noise interferes with my hearing anyway, the loud adverts drive me nuts!  We usually mute them as they are really intrusive.  I'd like an ad blocker like I have on my browser ;)

It's very strange with the studio programme noise,  I've searched for ages and found no refefence to it ???

Ads on now (I'm waiting for a programme) and they aren't blastinng!   Think something I've don with the equaliser has worked

Brainless, try googling 'life hacker'  'how to fix movies that are too quiet, then TOO LOUD'.  There's instructions on using the equaliser in VLC, but you can use the same/similar method to alter the equaliser on the tv, if you have one _ ours is in TV Set Up

Yes he has severe tinitus, so that stops him hearing, but too much loud background babble makes him worse.

Must search in set up, never noticed there was anything I could do about TV sound.
