I find it so annoying when you enter a show
and word is circulating about who is getting
The cc next week. I hope it doesn't happen
as it would be quite sad , you enter hoping for a
fair crack at the whip  nothing more after all you are
paying for the judges opinion but not before
The dogs have stepped into the ring-:(((

There really isn't anything sad about it. I very often predict the ticket winners and correctly. It comes down to knowing what the dogs look like and knowing the judge's preferences, nothing else. After all, when you have got to know what different judges like, you don't enter under one that doesn't like your type of dog, but make sure to enter under ones that you know prefers your dogs' look. Things can still change, one dog can be a bit lame, out of coat, play up, anything, but there's been many a time I have predicted a result before even seeing the catalogue (guessing who's going) and that's only because I know what the dogs look like.

Sad but true.
Champion title in UK is the most difficult to get. What pisses me off most are all those ticket collectors trying to beat own records in the breed. Too many dogs of great quality end up as pets due to lack of encouragement and appreciation from fellow dog people and often dishonest judges.
With number of entries decreasing and anti breeder nation wide actions we are on the verge of some big changes I think.

I hope not. The very worst thing that could happen would be for a Champion class to be introduced. No dog is unbeatable, and you've got to aim for breeding something better than the current top winner, not winning because the competition isn't there.

I agree, that is the idea in general but try to explain that to some judges.

I couldn't agree more. :-) The introduction of a Champions class would mean that CCs are then awarded to 'the best of the rest', and become what I call 'semi-skimmed champions' because the cream has been removed from the top.

The way to get rid of the problem of a really good/popular big-winning dog blocking otherwise excellent dogs would be to have three RCCs under three different judges equating to a single CC, with perhaps at least one full CC after the age of 12 months being needed to gain a title.

If you know the judge and you know the dogs then it is not too difficult to take a pretty good guess as to which dog will be highly placed, it is not surprising that over a season one dog and/or one bitch wins most of the available CC - what is wrong with that, nothing it means that the majority of judges have the same idea of which dog best meets the standard.

Stop Champions competing, not logical, the CC should go to the best dog or bitch of a breed present at the show on the day so how can it be awarded if the Champions present are not included the CC would become devalued and the title of champion would loose value.

Absolutely agree, with your whole post, but particularly this part. We look down our noses at American Champions, all you have to do is keep showing and you will eventually make anything up over there. Our Champion title means a lot, I don't think there is anything wrong with the system as it is. And I made up my first borzoi, my 1st show dog - we (the dog and I) didn't have a clue what we were doing, and we certainly weren't known, but he was good enough to win anyway.

Can understand the frustration of the owners of dogs who keep winning a RCC but most will make it in the end but think perhaps there should be more recognition of the award of RCC after all the judge is acknowledging that in their opinion it has the quality required to be a champion. Some people think that 3 RCC should be converted into a CC - not sure this is the way to go or if a different title could be awarded say 6 RCC = one Top Dog :-) or perhaps a Very Good Boy even the rather more mundane Quality Award or Quality Dog
