I am going to pick up my new puppy a week tomorrow (!!) and am thinking of treating myself to a new book. Can anyone suggest a good one for a labrador ( or general ) puppy? I have had a look on amazon and there seems to be a lot. I have a couple from whan I got Thistle 11 years ago but would like a new one too.
PS My flag at the top of my post is coming up as Canada - which is where I am at the moment (looking after my daughter and her kids - including brand new Amelia , 10 days old) but I'll be back in the Uk next week for the arrival of a furry baby girl!!

The Perfect Puppy by Gwen Bailey has good reviews.
Ooh a new puppy, how exciting :)
I like The Puppy Primer by Patricia McConnell - good for new and experienced owners alike
Thanks for that Lucy - I have just ordered the gundog one off the lab rescue site - hope it's there when I get home! I am going to look at the other 2 suggestions now - perhaps I'll get all 3!!
Jane
Thanks I have ordered all 3!!! That puppy is going to be sooooooo well trained ( and spoilt!!)
The Perfect Puppy gets my vote too. Enjoy :)

Grisha (Stewart) has a new book out called 'A Popular Force Free Guide to Problem Solving and Manners', which is excellent for puppies.
I'd also recommend The Culture Clash by Jean Donaldson, which is my all-time fav book.

Another vote for the puppy primer :)
Preventing Puppy Problems - Dee Woodcock. Just a little paperback but very easy to understand, broken down into segments so easy to refer to a particular problem.
Puppy Primer and Ian Dunbar's books from me as well. Plus Sophia Yin's How to Behave so Your Dog Behaves.
