Hi all, my girls on day 58 today, i had been doing her temp up until yesterday evening when she kindly decided to chew the themomiter which i had left on the kitchen side! think shes trying to tell me something..lol, anyway she was scanned at day 25 with 7/8 pups, deffo 7 but possibly number 8 in there, shes huge and her tummy seems to have realy dropped, my question is she sounds like breathing is hard, shes a large breed who snores when not pregnant, but now shes doing it even when shes awake, is it normal? she had a restless night last night and spent most of it wandering around the room but seems to be getting some sleep this morning, shes eating fine. the weight of her bump seems to be making her a little off balance on her back legs too, is that normal? thanks

Scans that early are really only to confirm pregnancy as pups can die/reabsorb in the weeks to follow so numbers should not be relied upon.
If she is big then she will get breathless carrying around that extra weight.
One horn of the uterus can have more pups in it than the other making her lopsided and may put her off balance.
I hope it wasn't a mercury thermometer she chewed. I never had any luck with taking temps so gave up.
Hope she has a safe and healthy whelping.

Hi Kirsty, my girl breathed hard for the last week or so and delivered seven healthy pups on weds evening but her first stage o very heavy panting, digging, sick and generally agitated lasted 32 hours and seemed an eternity to me, two hours of contractions and five puppies delivered in just over an hour she than ad an hours break and delivered the last two, so wishing you and your girl all the very best of luck it was our first litter and I have to say was amazing x
